IHG Hotels and Resorts is set to bring its luxury InterContinental brand to South Australia’s celebrated wine country through a partnership with Strategic Alliance.

Slated to open in 2028, InterContinental Barossa Resort and Spa will be the first international-branded luxury hotel in a South Australia wine region.

Set amidst rolling hills and vineyards, the 150-room property will offer guests views of the local landscape and access to an array of dining options as well as a cellar door.

It’s about 15 minutes from home so I must go up and stay there one day to check it out. I know the people who owned the land and I wouldn’t mind knowing what they sold it for. I’ll have to quiz him when I see him at the local footy this year. Barossa Helicopters will be running a promo with them eventually too according to the owners

Yeah, was a bit surprised when I heard the announcement but dozens of wineries within about 10-15 minutes drive

Agreed. Although the bigger names and cult wineries are further north. As are most of the better restaurants. As you rightly point out though, distances aren't great and I think Uber operated in the area now?

Yeah, Uber up there plus a lot more tour companies offering weekend trips up there so should be able to run some packages with the hotel. Everything in the Barossa is within a fairly short drive and by time the hotel is finished hopefully some other infrastructure is completed

Makes my grumble about the Novotel being too far out of Tanunda seem kinda silly :)
