Scoot, please!
LMFAO
obviously some hidden cultural meaning.......
It was named by an Aussie .... <cringe>
Apparently was named as a result of a competition.. Origin in Singapore
Both "Barry" and "Goin' Scootin'" were suggested by Australians. Yeah. Singapore HQ selected them, but the origin is here.
OMG.. You're so correct Mal.. So I suspect a certain pitch & emotive element towards the Australian market.. Just a hunch..Perhaps the next will be name Shazza, or a similar variation...
Well they also like Bazza ... so who knows what might happen in the future...
I'm still loling at Virgin's newest plane name:
Lameroo Beach.
Lame Roo
Its the beach at the bottom of the walkway in Darwin. Last time there, I snapped a homeless person who had slept the night complete with shopping trolley with their belongings in, checking their email on a blackberry - LOL
Well the other names aren't that much better.
Goin' Scootin'
Maju Lah

FWIW, Majulah means something akin to 'flourish' in Malay and is the first word of the title of Singapore's national anthem 'Majulah Singapura'. Whether the split into two smaller words is a nod to the local habit of adding 'la' to the end of many words or expressions I don't know.
“Being a proudly Singaporean airline, and with this new aircraft entering service near Singapore’s birthday on 9 August, we simply couldn’t pass up this opportunity to celebrate with our home nation,” said Campbell Wilson, Scoot’s CEO. “Of course, neither could we pass up the opportunity to add both Scootitude and some local Singaporean flavour. Hence ‘Maju lah’.”
For the uninitiated, Majulah, Malay for “onward”, is part of the title of Singapore’s national anthem, Majulah Singapura (Onward Singapore), while “lah”, on its own, is the signature suffix of Singlish, Singapore’s very own unofficial language.
