I've just looked at my FF summary and it now shows "Status reassessment will occur: 31 Jul 2012"! Given that I haven't flown since before xmas and that I only have 450 points this year and up until the other day it said I needed 750 points to retain WP, it seems quite kind of QF to extend it?!?

I do have a BNE-SYD-LAX award flight booked in F, a LAS-JFK-LAX paid in Y on AA and a paid SYD-BNE in Y booked for Aug, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it..?

Anyway... Thumbs up to QF!

Perhaps you are being comped due to you high SC earning in previous years as happens to WP's from time to time.

I would say having award flights and Y flights booked would not have helped.

Enjoy the bonus and remember it is a commonly held belief that QF only grant such favours once.

I have just noticed my reassessment date has changed to 31 July 2012. I wonder what triggers the change or "comping" date.

I'm less interested in the comping aspect. i.e. someone who has fallen short of the re-qualification SC's and has been given status for another year, and more interested in what triggers the system to say "this person has re-qualified already so we'll change the assessment date to next year.

From some of the other posts around this seems to be a bit haphazard.

From past years I would say around the 4 week mark the computer checks and if you have the SC's they update the system, I would guess it helps get new cards out on time.

I queried this with QF as I had already requalified till Sep-12 back in march. The system still says Sep-11.

Official answer is that the system reassesses about 7 weeks out and that your date will be updated at that time.
