I'll be passing through BKK and HKG shortly and was after an educated opinion on what are the best One World lounges for an SG to use.

Flying RJ in J out of BKK so i''ll have access to the Thai Royal Orchid lounge, but also to the QF/BA, CX and JL.

Flying QF J out of HKG but I'm guessing there are better options than the QF Club. I'm assuming the Wing/Pier are still the class leaders, any changes?

Thanks

Ex- BKK, the Qantas Club (J lounge) doesn't open until 1pm, so your use of it would be limited (assuming a 3:15 RJ flight). I remember reading a report recently about how there was no (or very little) food in that lounge around that time.

In HKG, Qantas has just opened their new J lounge, which is apparently pretty good. Of course the Wing/Pier J lounges are still great lounges.

Depends on the time of your flight. QF/BA lounge is only open from about 1pm until the last QF/BA departure.

In my opinion, the new QF J lounge is just as good as the J sections of The Wing and The Pier (with the possible exception of the noodle bar). Its close to gate 15/16 so if using those gates its a logical choice.

Thanks. Yes it's the 1515 RJ flight so QF/BA may not do me for the whole time. Given it's the flagship TG lounge, I'd assume its better than the CX/JL options?

Might have to give them both a run in HKG

i managed to be the only person in teh BKK J lounge on Monday morning catching a cathay flight at 1pm!

F lounge doesn't open till later IME (BAsed on last Thursday and the Monday just gone)

Interesting that RJ is sending business class passengers to the Thai lounge in BKK and not a Oneworld lounge.

The Qantas business lounge (First Class lounge is too small and can get extremely crowded) and the CX lounges are not bad in BKK and the Wing/Pier in HKG. I will get a chance to try out the new QF lounge in HKG next month.

On oneworld.com, the Thai Royal Orchid Lounge is noted as a 'Oneworld Lounge', presumably because RJ sends its J pax there.

Anyone have any experience with whether this makes it available for J pax / elites of other Oneworld airlines on a reciprocal basis then? Hoping to meet a Thai pax for a bit in BKK and would be great if we had access to the same lounge, since I doubt we'd be able to get them into the QP or CX lounges.

I think your chance is minimal, but of course is worth a shot. Generally it will be only a OW lounge for the purposes of certain pax who have invitations from that airline.

Didn't skytrax just rate this lounge as the best flounge?

Say one was flying RJ J class but a OWE, would that get you in the Thai Flounge or just their normal lounge... ?
