Given the fact some rogue PEs are still getting about, I'm thinking 2C maybe the best PE seat to try. I know from experience that 1A id narrower, but is 1C also a narrower seat? For that matter, is 2C narrower as well.

Any thoughts?

Personally I prefer 1D or 1F. !

1A & C get very cold and people tend to stand there while waiting for the toilets.

And row 1 the Live2air screen is far away, and people stand infront of you waiting to go to the toilet, row 2 would be the best, if you like the window go F, if you like isle go D :p

I had one last Sunday and it was the first of the past dozen or so PE flights that I've taken. (Really just luck of the draw I guess)

It appeared to me that all the seats are the same size. They are indeed narrower than the regular PE seats, as the armrests cannot move.

I always prefer 1D because it's an aisle seat right at the front. Tends to get the best service, plus no seat recline. That being said, there is a bit more leg room in 2D as it has room under the seat for your feet.

I agree with The Rok that 1A and 1C are not very nice, always people standing there for the toilet and frankly I don't like eyeballing the FAs. Also no live2air, unless you want one of those portable things.

I definitely prefer 1D... good seat, IFE mounted on the wall, excellent leg room and generally good seat width even on Rogue aircraft.

:D

Correct, row 2 is the preferred row of many, for the armrest and legroom reason. Row 1 on aircraft without the red seats also has the tray tables in the arm rest which aren't as large or stable as a seatback tray table if you decide to eat a meal or use your laptop. All PE on aircraft with only blue seats have portable IFE, another reason to choose row 2 as you can use the seatback tray table in the middle for resting the device on while keeping your tray table for laptops and meals. Only the red seats have setback IFE. Y pax also tend to congregate in front of the first row despite the FAs best efforts. Often the location of choice for mothers trying to calm a screaming child. Not nice. The downside of row 2 is you'll often have Y pax in row 3 who may or may not respect your desire for quiet. Although often the pax there are status pax.

1A and 1C offer heaps of legroom, but I too don't like eyeballing the FAs. In 1C you get trampled on by pax using the toilet. I don't like the portable DVD players either.
I prefer 1D and 1F although the pitfalls are the lack of being able to stretch your legs right out.
2C and D are OK as I am aisle person.
They all have pros and cons.

OK 1D it is (allocated this morning).

I'll give it a go, but I've always had a liking for the A,B,C side.......and didn't I read somewhere here that there is a marginally bigger pitch on the left over the right?

I'd like to thank the AFF "brains trust" for the advice.

1D on the way down this morning.........I like 1D, the screen was just the right distance, the leg room good, couldn't rain on my shoes and strides (as it did when I was in 1A a while ago) and service was superb (thanks to the very professional cabin steward Kim. He made for interesting conversation, coupled with impeccable service without being over-bearing).

I'm trying 2D on the way home although if I do indeed get one of the BSI-800 J seats, it won't really be a comparison (but I'll suffer it anyway without gripe).

On a further note, whilst boarding was underway this morning, Kim asked, then served me a coffee pre take-off. Is this the norm for PE? It was very much appreciated as I can't remember the last time I had a pre-flight drink offered.

Have flown PE many times with no pre flight drink (only bottle of water on the seat). Different in J on the Syd-Perth flights where there is always a pre-flight drink!

That's what I thought. I had the water as well. It was chilly this morning (9 degrees I think when we left @ 6am) so perhaps he just noticed my blue lips or something

It was definitely a bit cold here on the coast this morning

Was just mentioned on the Gold Coast weather report that we actually had the warmest overnight temp in a while, of 11°. It certainly felt much lower last night when I got off the train though!

hey swanning_it, funny i had Kim also today (BNE-MEL).. Betting it was the flight after you.
Kim did exactly the same asked for pre/after takeoff drinks. Was very attentive and a great crew member.
I've not had this on a flight as yet, but this is the first flight of the week, maybe this is something new??

I think what you are experiencing is just him going the extra mile. A lot of crew these days are adding their own energy into their job. Maybe they are excited about the J class yet to be rolled out.

Hey Firefox.......he was certainly professional.......I did indeed like that.

Justchecking, you say adding their own energy.........this evening DJ-1D and I had the ultimate......the pilot coming back to chat with us (or was he the co-pilot??). Had a great long talk with the four of us in "business", giving his thoughts on the DJ moves and one thing that really struck home with me, was his statement that the "excitment" at JBs improvements was infectious within the whole company. They were also excited by the changes. One of our PE/Business compatriots suggested he flew at least 2-3 sectors a week and I asked him if he could remember the last time the pilot/co-pilot come back to chat to the business travelers and asking their level of satisfaction.......the answer was - NO.

Looking forward to my (in fairness, short) PE sectors over the weekend and at the end of next week. I've got a BNE-ROK-BNE over the weekend, ROK-SYD mid week and another ROK-BNE the following weekend so I'd imagine I'll be either the only one or one of a small few in the PE cabin which will be great (ROK flights tend to be full of.... well people who wouldn't fly PE). Also a BNE-SYD in there too which may be loaded a little heavier, but it's my one shot for a new 737! Sounds like exciting times at DJ and I'm really glad to be Gold during this changeover period.
