I'm sure it has been covered but I cannot find it anywhere.

On a 73X, what is better and why, Row1 or Row 2 :?:

Row 1 non BSI is good except 1A has the slide in the way, 1D &F good, for BSI all good. I have had 1A and 2A today, with 1F in a few hours, all good :).

One Foxtrot always reliable, like the bulkhead without the FAs sitting on top of you.

Two Alpha and Foxtrot feel a bit cramped if the flight's full (maybe that's just me).

I reckon the leg room is limited in 1D/F because of the bulkhead...
So if I want a chat with the FAs, its 1C, or if I need to sleep/work it's 2A or F...

Not had the pleasure of Biz in a BSI yet, but row 3 has (I reckon) at least as much if not more legroom than PE on the older aircraft.
Reserve this for Plats please VA!

Thanks for the input everyone.

We have a choice of 1A/C/D and 2A/C/D/F so I'm inclined toward 1A & 1C.

1a and c is the go. Thanks to the lovely team at MKY my E190 in four hours in 1A is now 2f on a BSI leaving earlier, love the attitude DJ when asking for a change, it's a real can do one!

1A / 1C has no bulkhead on older 73G/73H aircraft; I wouldn't recommend it (though the legroom in 1C is definitely nice). 1D / 1F is much better. 1D / 1F is also quite nice on the BSI aircraft! :) Row 2 has reasonable leg room (at least on the older aircraft).

Only used 1A once and found accessing the overheads a bit difficult on boarding. But that was old DJ, May last year.

Any comment on PE seating on VA's 773ER? I'm usually in row 11 on the assumption that bulkhead seating probably has less legroom. Right choice? Or am I better off in 10?

Thanks.

1A and 2C it is.

Now that's an odd choice for 2 travelling together! Do you mean 1A, 1C??

From my limited experience, 1A would be the absolute last one I'd choose, but it depends on airports I guess. I got rained on in 1A whilst sitting on the tarmac at OOL......an expeience I'll not forget in a hurry. Also, if you happen to get a rogue, 1A seems to be very narrow.....in fact all the first row are narrow. If you jag a BSI, 1A, 1C is fine.

If it were my choice, I'd have gone 2D, 2F. Plenty of legroom, no eyeballing of FAs and I haven't found the reclined seat in front to be an issue at all.

I have come to the conclusion that 1D is the best seat for me. This is based on the following:

If it's a red seat then I am seated in the most forward seat without having to eyeball the crew. I also have live2air from gate to gate. I can stretch my legs and not have to worry about recline. And I am one of the first served. The only downside is that the legroom is better in 2D, but often the second room suffers a bit in service from the crew.

If it's a rogue aircraft then 1D and 1F have more legroom than any other seat, except 1A and 1C, again eyeballing the crew. But the bulkhead is way far away, further than even the BSI planes.

If it's BSI then it really doesn't matter. They are all awesome, though if I had a slight preference it would be 1C because you do not eyeball the crew (there is another bulkhead/divider) and the seat has a bit of extra legroom due to its position slightly offset from the door opening.

So overall, since it's still a coughshoot on which plane you'll get, 1D for me is the best bet. When all the planes are BSI I may have to change my screen name. :)

Having sat in both, they appear to have the same amount(ish) of legroom. Maybe row 11 has slightly more, but I didn't really find it made much of a difference. Definitely like not having anyone recline in to you in row 10.

I'm glad someone is paying attention :!:

Yes it was 1A & 1C. In this circumstance the weather was good but I take the point of 1A being a problem in bad weather.

My parents will often take C+D (any row) when travelling short-haul, J, Y+ or Y due to ease of access and they can still talk across the aisle. Particularly when in Y so they both get an aisle seat.

Thanks for the reply... I don't think it will really make a huge amount of difference either way. I have 11H for now. Will keep an eye on loadings and maybe switch up to row 10 if the cabin is looking full-ish, but in my experience there are rarely more than 10 PAX in Y+ on this route outside of peak times. Not flying until Februrary :)

Looks like my next trip is SYD - LAX in Y... yuck :\
