As a frequent flyer on Dash 8-300, the best seat for leg room is 1B. It is opposite the FA seat at the front door, which if you board early people may tramped on your feet. But once airbone and the FA is doing his/her duties it is bliss. The only problem is the reduced width due to the serving tray in the armrest. Seats 1C & D are also good if no one is sitting opposite in E or F. But again reduced width.
The exit row is at row 10 which offers a little more leg room than a standard seat. Overall the leg room in a standard seat is a little more than a 737.
The best seat for a right handed person is 2D with no one in 2C.

I would have to agree that 1B is the best seat on the Dash 8's.

I have had a window seat in the last row on some lightly loaded flights and this has been very comfortable and provides some good views below.

Another vote for 1B. Have found that row 1 can be left vacant & no problems getting the OK to move after airborne.
My flights mostly 45-60 minutes so all seats are fine really

I like the Dash 8's, they generally have more leg room than jets in any seat and the FAs seem happier.

As for the best seat have never flown in 1B, maybe one day.

However I don't even bother asking for the exit row aisle given the short flight times.

Thanks all - I kind of half-guessed you'd all say that!

As non-WP I cant get 1 or 10 allocated (in 6B currently) but will try at a/p.

Oh, it's BNE-NTL so more like 1h30m.

Cheers

Have never flown on a Q400 but have more time up on 300s than most QFLink captains. I always asked for 1 Charlie or 1 Delta on check in. I liked ! delta because of the view out the window and the service is much better that close to the front.

Well, FWIW, I asked for exit row (orig allocated 6C which seemed like it would be noisy due to engines) and ended up 10B. Not a big difference in legroom, but quieter than mid rows and a reasonable seat for a short flight.

Only 2 empty seats on the a/c as it turned out.
