Hi All,

I have an upcoming flight on JQ from SYD-CNS and am trying to pick the best seat possible for this ~3hr flight. There seems to be good info on which to choose for the A320, but less info for the A321.

1B,C,D,E,F are available: listed as "Up Front" not "Extra Legroom" (as they're listed on the 320)
25A-F are also available (second exit row - plenty of legroom, but takes a long time to deplane...)

Does anyone know if row 1 on the 321 has any extra legroom, or is there a bulkhead to contend with?

Cheers

No bulkhead in row 1. Best seats for extra legroom are 12 A and F - no seat in front and only charged as a standard seat, not an exit row or extra legroom seat!

Any seat on the inside of the plane is a good one, think twice before taking one in the outside beer garden as it gets a bit windy:lol:

Thanks for the info! Sady 12A,F (and 11B-D) are occupied. Thoughts between row 1D-F and 25A-F?

I'd take the front, however if you de-plane via the rear, it might not be the longest wait, you're not quite in the middle in row 25! 13 rows backwards or 25 forwards... you choose ;)

Been a while since a A321 JQ flight but depends on what is important to you.

I find that in 1A to 1C you tend to get trampled on and banged around by boarding pax and their hand luggage, in 1D to 1F you don't get as much trample action but I think you have a bulkhead in front of you (rather than a galley curtain across your feet). In either case you get better than average legroom, don't get reclined upon and get off the aircraft early, but you will find that you will want to board early to get some overhead luggage space as crew luggage and other equipment can make overhead hand luggage space a bit of an issue up the front.

In 25A to F it looks like you have a little bit more legroom than usual, less trampling, probably more overhead bin space, and also run the risk of being reclined upon.

If it was a holiday with checked-in luggage I would go Row 25, if you are on business and HLO or have a tight connection then it would be 1D, E or F but get on board early at SYD.

EDIT: Just saw samh004 comments and forgot that if you are in a hurry then rear door entry at SYD and exit at CNS can be a quick way on and off the plane so seating further back is not so bad (unless you can't sleep with lots of foot traffic to the toilets) - but using rear doors is a bit hit and miss - JQ are notorious for not using rear stairs at last arrival flights of the day or at night or when they are short staffed etc etc

Thanks for all of the advice - have opted for 1F. We'll see how it goes! ;)

Sorry if I gave you a bum steer before - just found this photo and looks like you will have a bulkhead in front of 1F - see attached pic courtesy of Airliners.net. From what I remember the legroom isn't quite as good as 1A-1C but as I said - you don't get beaten up during boarding.

We found 1DEF is good, all things considered. There's a half hight wall with a curtain in front for the Galley.
We've allocated 1AB twice & lost them at checkin on both occassions (& moved back to next exit row).

1A has the emergency slide protruding from the 1L door. 1B/C have as much legroom as you would like. 1D/E/F definitely have a bulkhead in front of you - extra legroom yes but not a lot extra. If you want row 1, B and C would be the ones to pick.
