this doesn't specifically answer the question but.. last time we flew Air Pacific we discovered at the check-in [SYD] you could buy an upgade to J for about $200 & considering how ridiculously cheap the fare was anyway it became a very cheap J seat.

Hazel,

was that in Sydney or Nadi?
AUD/FJD?

cheers

Hi - we were in Sydney going to Nadi October last year. Might be worth giving Air Pacific a call to see if they still do it. I do recall they had very few check-in staff considering they were loading a jumbo.

i presume QF would have been the onground agents? I have QF tickets on FJ metal.

thnxs

My advice is to avoid them if possible. Virgin or Jetstar much better than Air Pacific.

Their J seats is not much good with seats and entertainment system from the 80s. Food also bad.

Have flown on FJ's 747 once.. in J. (NZ pulled out of the LAX-NAN route after I booked but before I flew... so got pushed over to FJ... with upgrade intact!) Big old fashioned seats.. food was perfectly OK IMO.. service was good overall due to one outstanding FA...

Apparently the Upper deck is the place to be in Y... (C is in the nose... )

If you are only going SYD-NAN and have a good fare lined up I wouldn't be too concerned about other factors...

winfred.. I am curious about 1 thing... You don't like C on FJ and would rather fly VB/JQ?? But they don't even HAVE C on those routes do they???

Business Class for sure.

I thik it will cost about $400AUD to upgarde at the check-in counter.

My experiences with Air Pacific have been very good [apart from lack of check-in staff in SYD] Their fleet is old Qantas & Singapore jumbos [from the immaculately serviced & maintained days] & I always find the cabin staff very friendly & efficient. They are at the lower/mid end of full service airlines - eg individually wrapped wet wipe rather than hot towel, hot meal marginally more exotic than QF domestic, free drinks. Staff are great with kids & yes like the rest of Fiji the cabin staff sometimes operate on 'Fiji time' - but if you're going there on holiday it doesn't seem to matter.

DJ = Never better than anything ticketed QF, ever!
JQ = Only if it's a Jetflex or Star Class ticket across to NAN.

IMHO of course. :)
