Hello Everybody

I am a Qantas Platinum about to embark on my first trip of any substance with the Star Alliance network. I'm not enrolled in any awards programme with any of the Star Alliance carriers.

I live in Sydney Australia at present, but will be relocating to Tokyo next year. I travel into Asia about 7 or 8 times a year. Usually with a few stops on a circle Asia fare. It's always Business Class.

In the future, I guess that 2 or 3 of those trips are likely to be Star Alliance fares. My next trip for example is Sydney/Incheon/Beijing/Kansai/Narita/Hanoi/Singapore/Sydney

I was wondering if anyone could suggest which programme would be best to enrol in. I suppose the logical choices are ANA, Singapore or Air NZ. I'd be grateful for any advice/tips.

thanks

Winny

My choice is bmi Diamond Club because of their good earn and burn rates, cash + miles redemptions, and reasonably easy to earn status.

The negatives are their terrible call centre for redeeming award flights, and there is continued uncertainty about the future of the program. But it's been like that for years.

What' is best, is different for each of us. However you might find it best to run two programs:

  • For points earnt from flying...to BMI.
  • However you may find it hard to get credit card earn there. So SQ for CC earn.
It will depend on what credit cards you can use, how much you spend per year, who you fly with....and what flights in what classes you want to redeem for etc.
