Hi everyone,

A group of mates are heading to Asia around the 23rd/24th December and coming back early January.

Is there any point in waiting for flight specials considering we're in May now? Or is the only way prices are going is up for that period?

Also, any chance QF award seats will be released?

Your advice would be much appreciated!

Cheers!

From my experience the flights around Christmas/New Year will only get fuller as time passes and I believe if any award availability is going to be released it will be very close to the day of the flight and not worth waiting for availability.

As an example I have a flight MEL-SIN on 26 December and at the moment L class is the lowest class available for sale. The SYD-SIN flight on the same day M class is the lowest class available. These are Super Saver classes and all the Red e-deal classes have been sold out.

Expect to see Business and First awards turn up, but not Economy.

Economy fares are unlikely to go down.

Qantas might release a Business/First sale for that period - they have previously.

Ah ok. Thanks for that. How can you tell what is available? Simply from the Qantas website? Or is there somewhere else you gurus look? :P

Any other experiences people?

SeatCounter is usually good to check availability.

There is also Expert Flyer but you need to subscribe and there is a monthly fee.
