Hi Guys

Thanks for the help with the last one it seems we a Viva la france! for a few hours anyway.

My Brother is about to book a Syd-LAX-Syd leaving 22/23/24 June and returning 8/9/July.

Can someone please advise the best flights to get an upgrade "j" class fare on as well as pointing me in the direction where I can do this myself in the future.

He is a QF Gold.

Thanks

Pog.

Hi Pog,

As you would imagine, the flights to LAX are generally fairly full on Saturdays so I would avoid this for trying for an upgrade. Also, from my understanding, avoid QF107 on all days as this normally includes all the psgs that transit to JFK. It' still two weeks out, so its hard to tell but its certainly better than 6 months.

Checking seatcounter.com shows the number of J seats open. At the moment though, QF149 and QF11 on the Saturday 23rd are showing J9 so my advice is to pick either. Sunday is a complete mess so I would avoid this. Friday, is not bad either, QF149 and QF11 are showing J9. Two weeks out, this is not a bad sign, but remember, get the upgrade request in ASAP.

Also, remember that Platinum's have a better chance at an upgrade than a gold because of the seniority order. I'm pretty sure you said you were a platinum, so maybe you could put in the request for an upgrade and then transfer the points. Just a thought..........

Thanks Mate...

Also while you checking these out can you see what

Just go to SeatCounter - The Booking Class Availability Machine and put in your cities and dates and see what is available. It is free.Doesnt give the award availability but other business class seats-J,D,I are there.
Out of interest put AA as well as QF in your favourite airlines and see the differences in availability.Out of Brisbane you will often see AA as J7,D7 which means when I get my business class RTW fare I am fine as it books into D class.QF though often shows J9,D0 meaning grief.

Hi Pog,

Sunday also shows J9 for QF93 so if there is a need to travel on Sunday, this is probably you're best flight but nothing is ever guaranteed.

Good luck! :p

Thanks Mate

I put him on the Mel-Lax and lodged the Upgrade..

Cool, good luck Pog! :p Can you let us know what happens with the upgrade please? It will be interesting to see what happens with it being lodged just a couple of weeks out.

Cheers,
