hello everybody, I have asked a similar question before but got a bit confused so please bare with me,

here is my situation,

dont travel for business , ( i do but I travel on jetstar on cheap $50 flights )

currrently have CBA amex/MC AND Citibank Sig,
all shopping is done on AMEX= 1.5 QFF points per dollar +$1=1QFF point on Citibank visa

I want to maximise points value

the best options I can think at this point are:

Buy a Qantas flight with cash then upgrade to Biz Class ie use the economy class point equivalent to upgrade to biz class

OR

buy a CBA $1000 flight centre for 184,000 points which is 62000 $ spent all on the amex,

buy flights via jetstar for the annual holiday flights I do ( I do a lot of asia,) so I can get flights on special for around the $500 mark to asian destinations, spend the remaining $500 on accomodation, since if I book flights via QFF points, its 72,000 points PLUS $400 odd in tax! which makes my points worth essentially nothing

since many of the asian desitnations fly by jetstar and not qantas, and seeing how jetstart starclass is prety much the same as economy, ive been saving up points and will probably spend it on a qantas carrier to Europe or USA, and now have a coughload of points!

thank you everyone, and thanks for reading

Hello sopoor

you should refer also to the CBA credit card, citibank credit card and QFF threads. Plus there are many discussions all around this forum on the best use for points. There was a recent excellent dissertation about the value of points and the best way to use them in the QFF stream

a couple of quick questions/comments:

Do you have the 184,000 CBA points and if you do are they QFF points (which would already have been swept to QFF) or CBA points with which you could buy the voucher mentioned. There is a vast difference. Others may disagree but saving CBA points is likely not the best use of spend on CBA cards

The main answer to your question though is: What do YOU want to do with the points? Work back from there.
