Hi everyone
currently I have credit cards that accrue points straight to my QFF. AFAIK, Qantas points cannot be used for accommodation directly nor can the points be transferred to a hotel loyalty program unlike other airlines.
Are there any non-amex cards (or dual amex + visa/mc) that can help me collect points that could be used towards accommodation?
The one I have found so far is the ANZ platinum rewards where the points accrue into their own rewards program and looking at anzrewards.com the value doesn't seem to be too bad either. They do give the option of transferring to Krisflyer, asia miles or velocity but the only velocity out of the 3 allows hotel bookings with points.
I did a quick comparison of the value I would get if I transferred the points to Velocity and then redeemed or If I redeemed for a hotel directly through ANZ rewards. Unsurprisingly the direct redemption from ANZ rewards seems to be more valuable as you need 2.25 reward points for 1 Velocity point.
Looking at the website for the card and the T&C's I am not sure if earn is capped though:
