Later this year I'm looking to book a fairly vanilla RTW, BNE-SYD-HND-LHR-JFK-[A few US domestic flights)-HNL-SYD-BNE. Flying QF, BA & AA. 2 pax.

Oneworld tool prices it ~16K pp. Is this going to be the best price, or can a brick & mortar travel agent do some wizardry to price it differently (other airline etc).

It's not a status run per se, but I will probably attempt to book during a DSC (if it happens) as it would get my other pax to WP (who has never been above bronze). Would prefer the charge billed by QF as I have a QF Amex (2.25 points per $1 QF spend) but not essential if the saving is significant.

Maybe consider starting in HND for the ~9-10k AUD pricing exJP.
I believe JP was one of the cheapest starting points globally when I looked into DONE4 last year.

16k is about right for ex-AU. The better question is, whether your itinerary that you've priced up on the oneworld tool is actually taking you where you want to go. The oneworld tool fails very quickly when you start to try and do anything like open jaws within the itinerary.

It prices at A$9600 which is very competitive, and if was just me I'd suck up a Y return to HND to do it. But unfortunately my other pax must fly J.

By the time you add BNE-HND return in J on QF that makes it pretty close to the 16K.

However I might consider this for my next solo trip.

It's pretty vanilla, it prices OK. Full routing is BNE-(SYD)-HND-LHR-JFK-(surface)-BUF-(CLT)-MCO-(DFW)-LAS-(LAX)-HNL-(SYD)-BNE. I had difficultly getting seats on the BA A350 from HND-LHR as BA only had J available late last year but seems they've now opened up D.

Given you're WP why don't you redeem to position to Japan?

I can't comment specifically without knowing your dates etc. however you could potentially get rid of some fuel fines on that itinerary.

Maybe a SYD <> HND on NH if you can find that on sale for 2.8k RT per pax + a BNE <> SYD. There was a sale not that long ago and seems to come like clockwork every couple of months.

I've positioned ourselves MEL-HND to start our 6th DONE4 ex TKO for 16 sectors all for under $9800 and as we lost our MEL-HND due to Covid at least we'll get 48SC's from points club for our CR to HND.....We're overnighting as we dont want to risk a misconnect due to two seperate PNR's
