I just booked a king executive room on IHG site. I spend 311 A bucks on it. then i found another website sells it for 280 A dollars.
I then went on and call the centre ask for the claim. then they said no.
the reason being when they went on and click on it, it says it is no longer available at the time that i was watching that exact same page. I was pretty sure that the room was available tho since I went on and clicked that link, and it link right to the payment page.
another reason being, yes there is another reason, IHG is offering a special package which includes sparkling wine chocolate and breakfast and that website does not.!!!!!!!!!
I dont understand, there was no choice what so ever to not have that offer. i dont need it anyway. I am going to see few friends, and will surely have some Chinese for breakfast. i am out all day long and will do some business thing when i get back to the room.

the confirmation of booking:

the info on the website called check-in.com.au:

I might just write a letter to them instead or it was just such a bad luck.

PS, I am trying to put the pics up,but i can only get small pics, help.......lol

Price difference: always consider.. Reasons for such.
IMHO: HI in BNE is a very lame hotel for that pricing level.

The best price guarantee rules state the inclusions must be exactly the same, so IHG are correct in saying the room is not available. As for HI being a lame stay for the money, its not bad value after the refurb given BNE room rates, and of course won't be a HI after Aug 7.

It looks like IHG are correct but perhaps they have a strategy to offer token inclusions to make the price match that little bit harder.

In any case, a price match guarantee is a #fail if it is too hard to have honoured.

Imagine how much better the PR image and happier suxusx would be if he/she could go on public websites saying how good the chains and hotels are for honouring all the various deals in the past.

That would be "fantasy land" - most of the larger chains have such "guarantees" while at the same time making it really hard to be successful in claiming on them.

This is more Advertising than anything else ...

I should retract the 'lame" statement after knowledge of the refurbishment enhancements - I was merely relating to my personal observations & experiences from HI BNE, admittedly some time ago.

Thanks for pointing it out.

Was the original booking pre-paid or able to cancel with no penalty. If able to cancel then just cancel and rebook the cheaper rate that does not include the wine, chocolates and breakfast via the other site. Its those inclusion that make it a different room rate as noted by others.

While I agree, I can't see how they would price match a rate inclusive of breakfast with one not inclusive. Hotels offer various packages, and you can really only get price matches if you stick to the basic Advance Purchase or Best Flexible rate.

Say if i really want to live in IHG in the future, would there be any new IHG hotels in brisbane in the future?

The package is the cheapest rate and is cheaper than best flex which offers the same room and no extras. I have out of curiosity booked the best flex rate and put in a claim to see how they respond!

It will most likely depend on the cancellation policy of what you are matching to.

Yes, mind you am I the only one who finds this an oxymoron? All terms must be equal to or more restrictive than the IHG booking????????

All terms for the room price, including, but not limited to pre-payment, deposit or other requirements must be equal to or more restrictive than the terms found on an IHG website to be used for comparison. For example, when you book a room that may be cancelled without penalty on an IHG website, you may not compare it to a room with a pre-paid or non-refundable price on a non-IHG website. If, however, you book a pre-paid or non-refundable price on an IHG website, you may compare it to a cancellable or refundable price on a non-IHG website. The Best Price Guarantee is not available for bookings on websites where the booking details are unknown until after purchase.

This looks like great publicity for IHG all over 31 bucks....lol

They don't cut it with me. Not enough decent properties around
