Our launch fees are competitively priced at 2.1% for Amex and 1.6% for Visa and Mastercard.

Well, that's me already out. I use Sniip for paying rent and for bills where Amex isn't accepted, and their rate is better. So I'd hardly call this new offering "competitive".

I use Yak Pay. They’re about where everyone else is for Amex but much less expensive for MC/Visa.

They do charge extra for ‘Premium’ cards. Prob just a matter of checking in with them first to see what your card’s classification. The surcharge only applies to MC.

Seems like the 'hack' here is making money by operating one....

I'd say for most people using these processors they end up paying more in fees than the value they get in return - or borderline at best.

Agree, there are alot of businesses springing up promising points for Aspirational travel all while you're spending what you theoretically usually do. The handling fees are pretty hefty. Yes, if you can redeem, you can effectively buy the travel less cheaply than the cash asking price but finding the redemption might be the challenge (I guess that's something to tell the "punters" about later).

I wonder how these changes if they become law will impact this type of business and Rewards CC's in general in the AU market. I understand these costs which either the merchant or the consumer pays are what funds the points.

My understanding of EU CC's is they no longer have rewards schemes of note as interchange is basically nil so these "reward" schemes can't be funded. I'll stop my rant here and share the article that's got me thinking. Interested in any thoughts in relation to this and to set me straight if I'm going down the wrong path in my thinking - I won't get offended.

Hopefully they shut it down again and leave interchange where it is. I guess we'll see especially with an election coming in less than a year ...
