I was starting to think that I was the only BB King fan here, from the off topic thread:

Sad news that BB has died, not totally unsurprising as he had been ill for some time. However he kept playin' the blues live and touring almost non stop until only recently. he used to do up to 250 performances a year.

Might be an evening for getting out some of his albums and having a red wine or two.

One thing I didn't know, from wiki: King was an FAA licensed Private Pilot and learned to fly in 1963 at what was then Chicago Hammond Airport in Lansing, Illinois. He frequently flew to gigs, but under the advice of his insurance company and manager in 1995, King was asked to fly only with another licensed pilot; and as a result, King stopped flying around the age of 70

I don't subscribe to off topic thread otherwise i would have seen your post ...nevertheless, reflecting on BB, I was at his gig in Sydney few years ago and despite his age he held himself to the delight of his fans.

Had you been to the club bearing his name in NYC?

Unfortunately I haven't been to any of the 'big' clubs in the US, some smaller ones there and in Canada and the UK. This may be of interest as well.

You may like watching Hubert Sumlin's piercing lead guitar with the Wolf. I saw his performance in 2010 in NYC IN 2010, a year before he died.
