All insurance included, with EUR1,500 excess. 250km per day included. Airports and other premium locations 20% extra. Valid 29/3/12 until 31/10/12.
Equates to approx. AUD150 per day, including all insurance (EUR1,500 excess) from airports, which is a great deal.

Sixt have done this deal the last few summers in Germany, though the min. number of days has increased and the number of included km reduced.

Coupe available too - a few EUR less per day.

It doesn't appear on the Australian or US Sixt websites, but from what I can see, there is no reason why it wouldn't be available to Aussies. Rate does not appear to require prepayment either.

Very very tempting. A real shame it's a minimum 10 days to get that rate. Priced up for 4 days for myself in July and comes around $700AUD.

A heck of a lot cheaper than hiring an M3 in Aus.. but can I justify...

I think the best part is payment is not required just yet. I wonder what there cancellation policy is like...

From what I can glean from the internet, when Sixt offered the M3 two years ago, the min. was 7 days. 10 days is getting up there!

Out of interest, which location and dates came up at AUD700 for 4 days? That's not much higher than the 10 day rate! I did a few searches and each one comes up at over AUD200 per day for 4 days.

Definitely a lot cheaper than hiring an M3 in Aus - about a quarter of the cost!

I can't find any cancellation requirements for this 'flexi tariff' booking which doesn't require prepayment, only for prepaid bookings (up to 3 days rental cost).

One downside - deposit of 2-3 times rental amount required, possibly higher. It appears it's actually charged too, not just authorised.

There's Sixt rep.'s on FT, which I have asked to clarify deposit, cancellation and whether the offer is available to Aussies. Will post response.

AdMEL,

I was looking at July 24th-27th. Frankfurt City as the location. Comes in ~$670AUD

If I was to choose Frankfurt Airport, ~$800AUD. While more convient for myself, I will have to have a good think, and persuade the good lady that it's worth it.

Thanks for contacting the rep (Gary?), saves me doing it. :)

No worries hummel!

Have you driven on the autobahn at high speed? If so, any tips?

Likewise mate, can't say I have! The lady and I are heading to Europe in July and the last 4 days are for Nurburgring/Spa and cars. Sorting out a car for the track at the moment. Figure I only live once so might just pulled the trigger on this one.

hummel,

Which car(s) are you looking at for Nurburgring? What else is planned for cars? Have you driven on any other racetrack? What sort of car do you drive?

I'm trying to convince my mate that we should switch at least part of our planned US trip this winter for Germany!

Probably only looking at Swift or Clio for the 'ring at this stage, something with low power as I want to minimise the risks on the track. Done a little amount of track days here and have always been very into my motorsport. Currently have a VW Polo Gti with a little work done to it at the moment but also driving an Holden SS ute, (can you get two more different cars?)

Part of the lady and I going to Europe (both our 1st time) was that I'd spend a few days in Germany. If all goes well, I'll be going back without the handbrake :D
