hi there, late May 18 I need to get to Bangalore from Brisbane and back again. I can see a very easy routing with BNE - SIN - BLR and the reverse. This would be on QF and Jet Airways.

I notice on the QF booking site, I don't get points or SC's for the Jet Airways sectors. I am wondering if there is another way to get to BLR that sees me at least get some SC's for the SIN to an Indian port with a final connection to BLR ... I had found BNE - SIN - Colombo (on Sri Lankan) and then back to BLR, but that seems a little silly really.

I'm mainly chasing the SC's because late May is the just after my year resets and they will be handy for regaining WP (which I currently have retained).

Final question, what are Jet Airways like? Are they LCC, full service, somewhere in between? Clean and neat and reliable?

Thanks in advance.

I'd suggest a Malaysian/QF combo to achieve what you're looking for. This routes through Sydney, but as you're trying to gain SCs, this has three benefits:
1. All sectors earn SC. You get the extra SC for the BLR sector, plus extra SC for the Sydney sector each way
2. All sectors earn points. You also get extra points from those 2 sectors.
3. Not sure what date and class you're looking at, but it also appears to be about $100 cheaper in economy. Price is $1,015.15 on the MAS website.

The con is that due to the extra sector via Sydney it's about 4 hours longer. There are a range of departures so you can choose whether you prefer morning dep: 10:05 a.m. -> 11:40 p.m. to catch some movies, or reverse 7:05 pm. -> 10:40 a.m if you can and prefer to sleep overnight; same price. Return though is 12:35 a.m. -> 11:15 p.m. (Note if you want to get back earlier, there is a cheaper option as well direct from KUL, but that loses the extra SC and points for the Syd sector on return. Return time is then 7:55 pm. and price is $999.13.)

Flights are QF BNE-SYD (737), then MH SYD-KUL (A330), MH KUL-BLR (737) and vice versa. Full service all the way.

If you have time for the connection in Singapore (in case of running late), you could increase your credits further by booking separate tickets BNE-SIN, and SIN-BLR. This would have a similar total cost - again assuming economy as not sure what your plans are.

QF BNE-SIN is $609. Then you can get SIN-BLR return with MAS for ~$427 (via KUL, but it's on the way). Going with QF to Singapore (instead of MH to KUL) increases the earn rate of SC and points, then you still get the extra from SIN-BLR.

Cathay Dragon are quite fine and will earn you close to double SC’s for the same price.
If you don’t mind and extra stop over MH are good value. QF BNE-SIN, MH SIN-KUL and KUL-BLR and would give you the most SC’s

Jet Airways is a full service and generally reliable. As others have mentioned, MH between AUS/KUL earns a lower SC/point than QF AUS/SIN. To chase SC BNE-SIN-KUL-BLR can be a choice (440SC RT in Disc J). If you're happy to backtrack, BNE-MEL/SYD-HKG on QF HKG-BLR on KA would be (520/480SC RT in Disc J). BNE-HKG in J usually priced the same whether there's an extra stop or not. Hope this would help

Sri Lankan Airlines out of Melbourne would be another option to consider. You'd need to make your own way from BNE to MEL and back, but MEL-CMB-BLR is $635 return at the end of May. (You could start in BNE but BNE-MEL-CMB-BLR would be around $950 return.) Haven't checked SC earn, but it will be a bit lower on UL than what you'd earn with QF.

Second MattG post - UL J is way cheaper and heaps of SC's crediting to QF. Might as well recommend booking J from BLR -MEL. Had this flight earlier this year and loading is lot less (both in J and Y), aircraft is nice and service is impeccable
