Just arrived at the Dom terminal to be greeted by two barriers and two Reps at the door to the Lounge Complex.

Both QC and J Lounge shut due to an aircon issue. Currently having to pleb-it in the Gate areas ...

Regards,

BD

Lies..Hard to believe to that the aircon in the lounge in separate to the aircon in the rest of the terminal. They should be handing out travel vouchers to affected persons. We’re paying enough for them in our taxes atm to expect to have the lounge open.

Well it appears it is possible you don't know much about what facilities nor operational requirements that the company has.

If you do have further information in that regard, please tell us why they have closed the lounge?

Maybe, since the forum is supposed to be (like all such fora) an exchange of information, you could 'correct the record', If the other person was wrong, and let is know why these facilities were not open. If you're truly a QFd/QFi employee, then you may access to internal information.

The are many commercial premises in Australia that share airconditioning systems in common and private areas.

Welcome to AFF. Bold start 😀

Wasn't a voucher provided? I was given 2 vouchers in MEL several years ago when the lounge was closed - forgotten the reason for the closure, but it was an unplanned closure.

As no-one has actually explained why the lounges were closed, here it is. There was a minor fire somewhere in the QF lounge precinct at about 1300 Friday. People in the lounges at the time report smoke haze and burning smell coming through the A/C.

Given that the whole of the QF lounge precinct was rebuilt a couple of years ago, I strongly suspect that it has its own aircon system. It is very common for large facilities to have zoned aircon. This allows the system in one area to be turned off, while others are left on. The size of the BNE domestic terminal is such that I would expect there could be 10 aircon zones or more within the building, each with its own controls.
