Brisbane German Club » OKTOBERFEST AT THE CLUB

The year has flown by and it is once again time to start thinking about Oktoberfest in Brisbane.

Plenty of live entertainment all night in the main hall, with full meals from the restaurant as well as snacks in the hall available for purchase. It's not just beer too, there's plenty of schnapps, jaeger and whatever you fancy really.

Always good fun, last year I met the president of the German Club, after I accidentally tripped her over, a drunk tried to assault me because I wouldn't give him my beer, and ran into bigbadbyrnes unexpectedly.

Cover charge to get in is $10 for non-members and $5 for members.

Location

The Deutscher Turn Verein (Brisbane German Club), 416 Vulture Street, East Brisbane (opposite the Gabba).

Date

Friday 4 October 2013.

Time

Onwards from 6pm (though the earlier you arrive, the shorter the line). I'll try get there early and secure a table.

I live around the corner literally, no choice!

It'll be good to see you finally attend! ;)

This year sadly I can't make it.

I have attended the last 4.

I remember (or remember of being told) one Oktoberfest where you needed to be escorted back to the train station, you'd had such a good night ;) and you couldn't remember anything of going home but somehow ended up safely in (your) bed.

I'm Platinum for this 'event".
Should be another enjoyable evening, as was last year.

Of late.. seems MEL AFFers are leading on the social meet calendar.
Would be pleasant to meet more AFFers from BNE & SEQ.

I'm not sure they'll take memberships on the night or not, but it's $5 to become a (social) member and then $5 to get in, or $10 as a non-member, so it's the same price either way. Being a member helps for future visits and I believe on nights other than Oktoberfest you swipe your card when making a purchase and get rewards back to discount future purchases.

Any enhanced Velocity or QF points available on (beer) purchases? ;)

Unfortunately I will be in Europe.

Will look forward to catching up soon.

Mmm.. I suspect you are 'sneaking" off in style to the authentic Oktoberfest event.. ??
Please send a postcard..

I will be in Germany, but at this stage I don't think I will get to Munich, although I guess I could take the train down on Sunday

You need to be a member if you live within 20km of the club.

To those attending tomorrow, see you there.

If you can't find us (it'll be busy) then please send a PM and I'll try respond in a timely manner with my number. I'm hoping to sit on the RHS of the hall, facing the stage, opposite food stalls in previous years but wont know the exact setup and where I'll be until I get there.
