Hi All,

I'm flying BNE-SYD-LAX in about 2 months. I had a 3-hour layover in Sydney the morning of, but now Virgin asked me to accept changes to fly into SYD the night before. Who is responsible for the hotel? I assume airlines would IF it was during the trip, but as I had to accept changes (or could get a full refund, and pay the new price), I have to pay?

Original flight was $1781 return, a new booking would be $1945.

Fairly average outcome but I guess better than missing my SYD-LAX sector. I'm VA Plat if that makes any difference.

Cheers!

Pay nothing. Virgin needs to pay for that.

They won’t be getting much transfer traffic if this is the new norm for connections to the USA

If in the end VA has to pay, and you get to pick hotels, do the Rydges at SYD T1.
Not only do you have to think about accommodation, but there is also the consideration of the Tbus, as to last bus from BNE if your flight from BNE is the last one, or the first bus in the morning, when you have to walk to and back from Ibis Budget.
If no choice, then they would probably put you into Ibis Budget and you have to get the transfer bus.
But this one is news to me, so to speak.
Though, if they (VA) have not mentioned about hotel, they probably would say its a private nature, and you have to find and pay for hotel yourself.
Probably best to contact VA's Philippines call centre now, you can ask to speak with someone higher up if the first person of the call centre says they don't know.
Edit: HLO or do you have luggage to drop off, if you have luggage, then it might entail a taxi/uber at some point.
Imagine dragging a pull along all the way from terminal to terminal, ...
