Hi Everyone!

I would love to pick your brains about a few things for an upcoming trip…

We are relocating to Calgary, Canada at the end of the year and plan to get one-way tickets in Business Class
1. For the comfort (it will be hubby, myself and then 18m old daughter) - we are hoping that with a bed, she will sleep...
2. Luggage Allowance. We are moving countries with nothing other than what we can fit in our suitcases so the more generous baggage allowance the better!

We are hoping to get 2 x Classic Awards for the 3 of us (128k each as opposed to 1M each with a JASA - looking at the workings, it seems the connecting flight to YYC is where it gets crazy) but the problem lies with the Routing…

With an 18m old, obviously the quicker the better. But should we try for the A380 (ie. Via LAX instead of DFW) over the other planes? I have flown Premium Economy on A380 SYD-LHR and loved it! But would love a flat bed for this journey. Am I stupidly assuming that the newer the plane, the better the Business Class comfort?

Any recommendations or suggestions?

The other option is to buy Economy tickets and put in for an upgrade… but the fear is that they wont be granted and we will then have to cull a large portion of luggage…

Would love any insights J

Thank you!

It sounds like you have a few FF miles tucked away so that would lead to the question, what status do you have?

That will assist in making further suggestions.

Hubby and I are both Silver. I used to have Qantas Club but it lapsed while I was Maternity Leave and if I wanted to rejoin, had to pay the joining fee again... too expensive considering I joined with a special rate, and I mainly use Regional QLD Lounges.
