Re: dodgy charges
We hired a car from Avis CPT Airport last December and got the "all clear" from their employee who checked it over when we returned it. Had filled the tank at the airport servo / no damage etc.

Then, nearly 3 months after our hire, I noticed a $AUD33 charge from Avis on my credit card statement with no details as to what the charge was for. I was confident we hadn't incurred any tolls or parking fines etc. so fired off an email "please explain" to them and got an automated reply notification but then nothing more.

Notified Latitude and requested a charge-back which they processed after about 2 weeks. Problem solved for me, but it got me thinking as to how many people might receive a modest charge like that and just pay it without bothering to check if it was a bona fide charge.

Possibly a processing fee for a speeding fine (that may or may not turn up).

Just had a $14.45 toll charge from Hertz. Last rentals were Albury and Rockhampton in May, and Melbourne in March. Called for an invoice and they couldn’t produce one - said they will get back to me in a couple of days.
