Bombardier C Series aircraft become Airbus A220

Apparently Bombardier's C Series aircraft are now becoming part of the Airbus family and have been renamed to the Airbus A220.

Québec-born aircraft join the Airbus family

Airbus has revealed the A220 at a ceremony held at its Henri-Ziegler Delivery Centre, near Toulouse. Witnessed by Airbus employees and members of the global news media, the A220-300 landed directly from the painting at 12:25 am CEST wearing its new Airbus name and colours.

The A220 family comprises two models, the A220-100 and A220-300, formerly Bombardier Inc.’s C Series (CS100 and CS300). The aircraft are fully optimized for the 100 to 150 seat market and perfectly complement Airbus’ existing best-selling A320neo family.

Looks more like a mini-A350

Airbus already owns half of ATR alongside Leonardo SPA (more of a defence contractor and 30% Italian Govt owned), so the ATR 52/72 could get rebranded down the line.

I think the branding is smart - immediately suggest it's smaller than the 320 but related - single aisle construction. And the 2 signifies limited commonality in coughpit (having been designed by someone else)

No, it was subbed out - I have found over the years having a DL booking more than three months out is merely a suggestion they would provide transport around the time and perhaps in the manner originally booked.

By all accounts a nice aircraft. Boeing’s behaviour, which resulted in it becoming the A220 instead of a Bombadier, was pretty disgusting.

It would be a reasonably likely replacement for the 717s in Oz, if the market were even vaguely normal.
