Hi All,

Not the best offer, but if you have an immediate redemption in mind it might be useful for some. Seems a bit of a lacklustre promotion in the current climate - poor bonus offer and no status included. In addition, there is no clear direction for Virgin Australia other than a domestic airline at present. Not sure if it is targeted or not.

Receive 15% bonus Velocity Points or if you are an American Express Centurion or Platinum Card Member receive 20% bonus Velocity Pointswhen you transfer at least 2,000 Membership Rewards points to Velocity in one transaction by 25 August 2021*.

*Bonus Velocity Points
To transfer Membership Rewards points to Velocity Points you must be enrolled in Membership Rewards Ascent, Gateway, Premium Ascent, Business Ascent, Corporate Ascent or David Jones Membership Rewards program (this offer excludes American Express New Zealand Card Members) and be a member of Velocity Frequent Flyer. To receive 15% bonus Velocity Points, you must transfer a minimum of 2,000 Membership Rewards points from the American Express Membership Rewards Program to Velocity into Velocity Points in one transaction between 12:01am (AEST) 11 August 2021 and 11:59pm (AEST) 25 August 2021 (Promotion Period). If you are an American Express Centurion Member, Platinum Card Member, Rewards Advantage Card Member or Platinum Business Card Member, you will receive 20% bonus Velocity Points. A Member can redeem this bonus Points offer multiple times throughout the Promotion Period.

I'm keeping my points in my Amex acct. Still have 150K Va pts due to lots of award cancellations and refunds. The way Sydney lockdown is going there must be a point where Bain cuts its losses!

Same. Have more than I need with VA. Plus a lot of credit.

.
Do I want to keep my US Dollars, or swap them for Cuban Pesos at near parity. Tough call. :D

Would be surprised if anyone took them up on this, but strange things happen with point transfers.

Yes in hindsight, the world's worst business deal, it now looks like.

Yeah I'm skipping this as well. My FlyBuys are going to Velocity automatically to get the better conversion rate so my Amex points are staying with Amex ready for a SQ conversion once international opens up again.

Unlikely that Velocity will be opening up Krisflyer transfers for the foreseeable future, unless if theres 'something in it for Bain'.

Considering the losses the transfers made for Velocity under VA ownership (apart from money going to former part owner SQ), it would go against Bain's ROI unless if Bain manages to form a deal directly in their favour that would ensure 'maximised revenue' (with a low transfer rate for FFs to compensate) goes mostly to Bain instead of SIA/Krisflyer.

This would be a more attractive offer if Velocity wasn't still blocking transfers to KrisFlyers and all international/partner airline redemptions.
Back again after August and November 2021 with a shorter window this time:

I'm in the process of shutting down my Amex to reset the clock so this is timely...

Just made a transfer at the 11th hour (literally) and it landed in my Velocity account almost instantly together with the 15% bonus...
