Is it possible to use QFF points to book domestic flights in USA?.

Want to go Y - LAX/SFO/LAS/MIA/DFW

Have you considered using cash to book an instant upgrade fare and heading for Qantas Platinum instead?

I presume you've tried searching for flights in the award booking engine? If this hasn't given results you may need to call up and accept the assistance fee.

Will keep me as SG, I'll be about 300 points behind Plat. after trip as JASA to USA , happy with that.

Most only short AA flights and are expensive once over Y, want to keep cost down rather than go Plat.

I guess have to call up Q to book?

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

Look at Expedia.com.au to get an idea of costings in Aussie dollars if you start thinking of paying. It is a fair guide to get you thinking about your choices between points, status credits and money.

I looked on AA.com price is about 2 grand, I have 120K points and wife has about 40K not planning any trips for some time after this so thought we would use them.

Used points for Seattle/New York (no direct, had to route via Chicago).
For 2 pax, cost was 50,000 points and a whole USD $10. Beats the Qantas charges.
Booking was made on the Qantas website.

IMHO it's a waste to use QF ff points for AA domestic flights when most flights within the States even trans continental flights are USD100.00 to USD150.00.

Remember 50,000 QF points gets you a JASA fare ADL/SIN (plus cash).

Also worth noting that QF points used for Classic Awards on AA won't earn SC or points.

I take it you're stopping in SFO/LAS/MIA/DFW?

I would check out www.priceline.com for fares for all those sectors then it will show you which airline is the cheapest. I would then go to the website of that particular airline & book it direct with them.

Yes, if you book classic awards - you can't book ASA tickets on dom AA flights.
That is, on a dom AA flight that is not part of a connecting international itinerary.

Yeah not worth using points I see now, can do this trip for a mere $600 each.
