My mum is trying to book an airbnb via the Qantas website the usual way in order to earn Qantas points on substantial booking. She is logged on the Qantas website and when she tries to search airbnb via the website, it asks her to enter her QFF number and surname. When she does that instead of taking her to the website she gets an error saying:
It looks like something went wrong retrieving your Frequent Flyer detailsYou can try again now or come back later.
  • You can try again now or come back later.
I've tried logging onto her account from my end and it does the same thing. I've tried it with my account and same again.
Any ideas? Qantas IT issues?

Definitely a glitch.

Tried WITHOUT logging into my QFF profile, prompted to continue as a guest or log in

Tried logging into the QFF profile and searched for a place to stay via AirBnB. This time, the QFF number and last name was auto populated from the profile but got the same error message.

So definitely a glitch

Same here! Not a lot of points to miss out on this booking, but I would still rather have them!

UPDATE:

I just tried again last week and this week and still had the same issue.

I contacted Qantas about this issue when I first posted about this and got this generic response:
Thank you for contacting Qantas regarding your online query. I do apologize for the inconvenience caused by the website not processing your request. I will escalate the matter to our management department.
I have tried to contact you to inquire if you have been able to resolve your query but could not get through. If you are still having issues with processing our booking, please contact our Qantas AIRBNB department and they will be able to assist you. Their contact number is below.

The goods news is however that I just tried using a different browser and the booking worked as normal without this issue. I used Edge instead of Chrome. So I think it might be a cookies issue. If you are also still having this issue I recommend you try clearing cookies or use a different browser like I did.

Can confirm it worked on a different browser! Thank you~!

Thank you for this tip - it worked a treat!

Had the exact same issue and came looking for this advice. I had made an Airbnb booking via Qantas last night and then went back to make another tonight and got that error message (in Chrome). The cookies error sounds right - and I ended up booking on Edge. Thanks!

I see substantially higher prices when going through Qantas than when not. Don't think points are worth it in that case unless you are very close to reaching points club plus or something.

e.g. straight with Airbnb - $484 for two nights in Vienna.

Through Qantas - $547 for the same apartment.

I booked one recently and didn't notice a difference. Are you sure all details were the same (e.g. one person vs 2 people staying in the apartment?)

Hmm, I can't replicate it. So perhaps there was something else afoot. Definitely had the same number of guests on each, the service fee and the booking fee were also scaled in cost which I have never seen.

Maybe there was a temporary glitch in the system.

When I saw your post about the price difference, I was about to reply saying that in my experience the price tends to be the same (I usually find the place I want to stay through Airbnb direct and then when it comes to booking I log on via Qantas, and it's the same price).

But then I thought I'd check for myself and I did a search for a random property in Canada, and realised you were right - it was coming up more expensive via the Qantas site. So it wasn't just you!

We’ve booked dozens of AirBnBs via QF hotels here and around the world. Always the identical price. Plus 3 pts per $ spent!
Are you sure it is 3 points per dollar for AIRBNB ? Isn't it one point per dollar ? Hotels often have the higher earn rate.

Um, yes you‘re correct! Still, that’s 1 pt / $ you don’t get booking direct. Also, PC/PC+ get a couple of bonus points thrown in.

No bonus points for Points Club on Airbnb (only hotels I am afraid!).
