Hi there,

Booked through Qantas, but flying Westjet. Says no baggage, but no way to purchase baggage? Is it included with Emerald status?

Our flight from LA to Vancouver is on Westjet. In the Qantas app, it says no checked baggage included with Westjet. However, we can't work out how to add baggage. There was no option when booking.. and the Westjet website is hopeless and doesn't recognise our Qantas booking number. Do we just rock up to the airport early and hope they are able to take our bags and let us purchase? Anyone else had this experience? I've also read that because my husband is Oneworld/Emerald, that bags should be included as booked through Qantas. So much confusion...

Welcome to AFF @nic5757 .

It may be that Westjet’ booking reference is different from Qantas’ - this happens when 2 airlines have different booking engines ( like QF and AA).

If this is the case you can discover the Westjet booking reference number ("PNR") by calling Qantas. EDIT: See posts below for much easier way!! I suggest your husband as OneWorld emerald (Qantas Platinum??) does that as your “travel arranger“ as he is more likely to get the Hobart call centre and therefore more likely to get someone who knows what they’re doing.

Then use the Westjet booking reference number on the Westjet website and hopefully you can add bags there.

I’m a little rusty on all this so my apologies if someone comes on and tells me I’ve given the wrong advice. If hubby is not Qantas Platinum, then him calling will not work better, and you should just call with your Qantas membership number and just ask for the Westjet PNR on your reservation.
