A friend and I are planning to book our trip to Europe using frequent flyer points. I've never used it before and just had a few questions. We'll be using our own accounts to book the ticket, is it possible to organise it so we sit next to each other? Or is it random allocation? Can we choose where we sit?

Also, what are the chances of say, me booking the ticket and then she isn't able to choose that flight anymore because all the seats are gone?

Thanks

Yes, once you have booked the tickets you can ring up and get them linked.

If we are talking QANTAS their computer system has a process to allocate seats based on status and ticket type. For domestic flights you can pick your seat by going online to check in but note the best seats are often all auto picked for elite flyers. For international travel you can request a particular seat. Check out www.checkmytrip.com for seat allocation on international flights.

Can definitely happen but you can limit that chance by using the online QANTAS award booking engine and first search for flights for 2 people. As long as when you book the flight you only pick flights that were listed as available for 2 (or more) people you should be right.

All these answers are based on booking using QANTAS. If not let the forum know which airline (or is it a credit card award booking?) and the destination(s) so we can be of more help.

Yes, using QFF for points. Am thinking of Sydney to Paris, and then return leg being London to Sydney.

What do you mean by credit card award booking? The points are all from my credit card, which I've transferred across to QFF. I then used the search engine within QFF to look for the flights.

Sorry what I meant is that you could have been using Commonwealth bank award points. If you give the possible dates I'm sure someone will provide the number of seats available but basically if you can book for 2 people online then just book separately at the same time ring up and get the bookings linked.

Good luck.
