Hi all

As some know I am planning a brief visit to DXB on my way to Cyprus. The plan is to spend a few nights at the Hilton Jumeirah resort with my wife, son and my parents. The plan is to book two rooms - one of them a twin room so that my parents have the joy of spending some time with their grandson in the evenings whilst my wife and I sacrifice that special time with him and have to dine by ourselves in the hotel...

My parents will fly in the same day as us but arriving about 30 mins later. They are flying LCA-DXB whilst we are on QF1 SYD-DXB (subject to regulatory approval).

We arrive at midnight+30 and they arrive at 1AM.

So given all of that context my intention [-]is[/-] was to simply jump online and book rooms but it occurred to me if I booked the date of arrival as the check in date would I then need to call the property and ask for exceedingly early check in (I am diamond but everyone [as lovely people as they are] are nothing status). Or do I need to book the day before and have an exceedingly late check in noted?

Also is it better to call the diamond line to book the award as I have heard codes being bandied around here that might make the award cheaper? Things like NOR1 and GLOB1 are things I have seen referenced.

I am not that fussed on upgrades and assume if a room upgrade comes through that will only be for my room - I also assume exec lounge benefits wont be extended to the second room?

Cheers all in advance.

I think you will have to book the night before for both rooms. NOR1 is just a paid (cash or points) room upgrade. I have only booked simple points stays but have found that being signed in as Diamond increases availability and decreases points cost. I would probably call anyway with such a large booking.

Thanks - yeah I knew NOR1 was the paid upgrade - just an example of a code.

Looks like a large portion of my points balance is going to evaporate...

I've only ever booked a bog standard one night award (at HSP) so cannot assist, but there is a lot of info in the Hilton thread on FT.
