Anyone know? I looked for it on the Qantas website but could not find it.

Yes I know you cannot book premium economy from cities that do not have the premium economy product but something like SIN-MEL-SYD-MEL-SIN is one of the possibilities listed when requesting a SIN-SYD return on the QF Singapore website.

It should be one of the full economy classes.

EDIT: just checked with a dummy booking SIN-MEL-SYD-MEL-SIN; the MEL-SYD-MEL portion books in to H.

Thanks notzac.

Was hoping the booking class was business but full economy is just as good.

I have two such bookings coming up - as I'm based out of CBR just about all of my bookings involve a CBR-SYD and return leg.

A booking in July that's Premium Economy (R) (SYD-LAX and return) has the CBR-SYD and return booked in B. A booking in August in Premium Economy (R) (SYD-BKK and return) has the CBR-SYD and return booked in H.

Both are full economy

(thanks notzac for the clarification; I came across something that indicated B was discount economy, but upon checking realised that was for international flights only).

Oddly that thread did not appear in the search when I was looking for the answer. So now they can just type in the search "Booking Class for Domestic Leg of a Premium Economy Booking" and this thread will appear.

Still Premium Economy is a little overpriced at the moment from SIN at more than double the price of economy. There must be a lot of competition for economy but very little competition for premium economy on those routes.

I have a QF booking that is 'T' class out of the EU. The local legs are 'H'. If, however, one books with BA on a 'T' fare then the intra-Europe and Australian domestic flights are in 'B'.

Hong Kong is often a good place to start for cheap premium economy deals.

And SIN is the best place for most QF aiirfares including mutli-stop itineraries.

Economy airfares out of HKG are not cheap and one cannot use the multi-city feature for bookings originating in HKG.

Booked with QF - our upcoming trip to EU in Y+ books domestic into B, Intl Y+ as T.

LHR-CDG-LHR listed as "B" also (but suspect will be disc Y SC earning )

So BNE-MEL and SYD-BNE as B, LHR-CDG-LHR also as B, MEL-HKG-LHR-BKK-SYD as T.

I did do a booking in relation to the PE sale and my SYD-MEL booked into B class, so I received 20 SC's.

Yes, domestic will be full Y earn (so 30+20 for us).

However, i think international under QFF only a true "Y" class booking gives full SCs (there are some rare exceptions - I believe V in Sth America on LA is one) so i think the LHR-CDG-LHR will be only 10 e/w.

Mine have been in B. I booked R class fare BNE-HKG via SYD and was booked into B for the BNE-SYD leg.

My Experience has been (B) for Aust domestic flights.

Note on AA that if it is done by a good travel agent, they are allowed to book you into "Y" if you use an AA flight number. If you use a QF codeshare flightnumber the TA is only allowed to book you into "B" so you will earn higher status credits if via AA flight number.

Note that this is through a good travel agent with instructions to choose highest possible fare buckets - the online QF booking engine might choose a lower fare bucket.

It shows "Full Economy" - this is for points earn.

For SC earn, all it says is: "Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes."

As to how many? See here: http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/program/status-credits

+ For domestic flights within Australia, Discount Economy includes Super Saver (classes L, M, S, V) and Red e-Deal (classes E, N, O) fares, Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards booked in X class, and fares booked in G or Q classes. For international flights, Discount Economy includes classes B, E, G, H, K, L, M, N, O, Q, S, V and W, and Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards booked in X class.
# For domestic flights within Australia, Economy includes Fully Flexible (classes Y, B, H) and FlexiSaver (class K and W). For international flights, Economy is class Y. For travel on oneworld Alliance airlines or Air Pacific, Economy is class Y. For flights on Jetstar, Economy includes travel on Jet Flex fares. For flights on British Airways, Economy includes travel on World Traveller Plus fares. If you fly on a Flight Upgrade Award you will receive Status credits for the fare class originally purchased

but Y and B earn the same SC and points in te QF FF program for domestic legs so it make no difference (thread is about booking class for domestic leg of a PE booking). Y and B also have the same earning rate for miles and EQP for AAdvantage members.
