Hi All,

Was looking at making a booking to fly SYD - BNE - SIN on EY in economy for 26 Dec and travel back on 4 Jan

While I have managed to get the fare on the virginaustralia website, I still can not figure out how to select Full fare economy.

All help appreciated :)

Cheers, ap

thanks bullerdude..

When I am booking on the VA site, what Fare classes are used. is it as per VA or will EY fare classes apply

I am getting SYD - BNE - SIN on class L; This is full fare economy for VA but for EY it is discount economy
while SIN - BNE - SYD is class Y; This is full fare economy for both VA and EY.

So if I read ur response right even class L booked on VA is counted as Full Fare economy even if EY classes it as discount economy

cheers, ap

As it is a VA code share flight with a VA flight number, you will earn status credits and points at VA earn rates.

The EY class would only be relevant if you had an EY flight number.

Are you sure about this? I flew Singapore Airlines back in May. All flights were Singapore Airlines codeshare flights but all booked through the Virgin website, all with VA flight numbers. I was ineligible for points/status when I put in my retro claim for the leg of the flight that was on an Singapore Airlines flight which Singapore Airlines didn't count as a flight that was entitled to it.

For the legs that were entitled, points/SC accrued at Virgin rates.

What fare were you booked into? From the website:

*Selected Saver fare classes (T, V, Q) are ineligible for Points earn when travelling on Virgin Australia codeshare services operated by Singapore Airlines or SilkAir.

T class. That's a Singpore Airlines class though, not a Virgin class. Virgin it was all the same level of fare but not all legs were the same from the Singapore Airlines point of view.

If only I knew then what I know now ;)

City lane, just been off the phone to VA Plat desk, they have also vetted what bullerdude said, the fare class is as per marketing carrier so if u think u have a claim just retro it buddy

Interesting. I booked fares on an SQ flight with a VA flight number in T without knowing that condition, and on trying to retro-claim the status and points, I was told that they weren't eligible, even though the tickets had a VA flight number on them.

Too late to argue now though :(

I think retro will allow for 6 months. be nice to them and ask them to double check :) the agent at first did not agree to the VA fare codes but when told that it is a VA ticket so should the VA fare code not apply (also mention u booked saver) they will go and talk to someone else and come back and say yes :)
so good luck

I think my situation is different to yours TheCityLane. Had a look through the e-ticket, and I think I actually booked T-class on a VA codeshare operated by Singapore Airlines. I think my situation is exactly what that rule quoted by drewbles is addressing.
