We're going throughthe process of booking flights from Perth - Sydney - LAX - Vancouver - Calgary- NY - LAX - Syd - PER

What would be thebest way to go about doing this? The PER-SYD - LAX - SYD - PER legs will bevirgin australia. I will likely be doing seperate bookings for Per - SYDreturn, and SYD-LAX return as it appears to work out cheaper? (Unless there'san advantage in doing it in one long leg). In terms of luggage, will we be ableto send it through to LAX if we do seperate bookings? Or will that only bepossible for complete bookings?

Then it comes to theDelta legs. For short stoppovers, is it possible to get the luggage sentthrough?
Does the Deltawebsite allow me to enter my velocity number, and if not, what is the best wayto claim my miles?

Any tips/suggestionswhen making these bookings? It is the first time i'm booking such a multi-legflight schedule, and also the first time i'm going to be trying to make a claimfor a partner airline etc so any/all tips suggestions would be very much appreciated.

You can use your velocity number on the delta website.

I have only done SYD-LAX then on a couple more domestic legs (ATL-JAX) on the same Delta ticket. Once I landed in LAX I had to pick up my bags, go through a very quick customs and then put my bag on a conveyor belt to go to my final destination. It was very easy. Going the other way, JAX-ATL-LAX-SYD, once I checked my bag in it was going all the way to Sydney. One time I had 2 different Delta tickets (JAX-ATL-LAX, LAX-SYD) and when I got to the airport I was able to put my bag the whole way through with no problems.

I am not sure about mixing different airlines though. Hopefully someone else can help you with that.

Thanks for that. The only mixing of airlines will be Virgin Australia and Delta.

I have enough time between most of our stoppovers, but there's a few that might be cutting it close. Might play it safe then, and book the later flight.

Guys, we're thinking of booking the flights through a travel agent (flight centre) as the prices are cheaper than we can get anywhere else.

Will we still get SC's and velocity points for delta and virgin legs of the trip if booked through an agent?

What's the booking class Flight centre are putting you in? Impossible to tell without it.

I just used a travel agent for the first time in years (client requirement) and i will never again. Booked into fare class on AA that does not get SCs or points, $200 admin fee slugged on top of quoted fare etc.

you are better off booking it yourself through VA and DL websites (both very easy to use).
