There are huge differences in the airfares quoted for first class flights on the US AA website versus their AU websites - hundreds of dollars on the US site, thousands of dollars on the AU site. The US AA site kicks you out when you enter your credit card details with an AU address. Can anyone advise on ways to get around this. I don't have a credit card with a US mailing address.

Had this problem recently, when I hit hold the flight instead of pay now the payment went through perfectly on the next screen.

All you need is a US zip code.I am lucky as 04551 is a village in Maine.without the 0 it becomes the post code of my billing address.
There have been many threads on this work around.
I never have problems online but sometimes when ringing as they ask your country.

Maybe pay greater attention to the bit where you don't actually have to enter a zip code?

I too had this problem recently. The payment page has changed from what is was a few months back when I had no issues. I did similar to what Mick1969 did and put a 'Hold' on it. They then emailed the itinerary and when I clicked on the link in the email it took me back to the payment page from a couple of months ago where no Zip has to be entered. Painful.

Putting the reservations to 24 hr hold and then clicking through from the AA e-mail works! The payment screen accessed via the hold email link does not require a country or zip.

Thanks everyone!

I've had this problem in the past. Had been trying to book some short return flights within the US. Website kept rejecting payment. Ended up paying via a friend in the US.

At the moment, I'm trying to get prices for a JFK-NRT-BOS flight in W (AA codeshares on JL). Prices just fine on the US site as a simple return (either JFK-NRT-JFK or BOS-NRT-BOS), but as soon as I try to make it an open jaw, it won't even give the option for premium economy.
The AU site doesn't even give an option for premium economy at all.
