I am booking some flights to Rome from BNE. I looked on the QF website booking engine and searched for PE seats. one routing was QF to Hong Kong and then CX to Rome.

I could select the flights, confirm them and get to a point where I would pay for them. around this point the booking engine tells me that my flights (PE price) were going to be in economy because PE was not available on the flights.

this seems a little odd. would QF really allow the transaction to occur? obviously I didn't book it and I think you'd be mad to do so, I was just curious if QF would still take the PE booking and $$ and then stick you in economy.

My parents started the booking process for first class from FRA untill they noticed the message that therevwas no first class but they would be flying PE on an F fare!

Yes. It's a valid fare and you have been warned. In some cases the customer could want it, ie for flexibility reasons etc.

I've tried to book PE a few times out of Brisbane to Singapore then London (or via if that worked). On one occasion I lucked in with an aircraft that had PE, but I believe there's very little PE out of Brisbane into Hong Kong or Singapore (in my case connecting to London). I tried, but couldnt find any regular flights that had PE.

So I have two choices - go to Sydney then PE all the way to London, or just go E to Singapore or HK, and then PE to London from there.

And every time I've tried to book, I've always been told that only E is available on that leg

Cheers Mark

Mrs Bolthead had the same problem....... trying to book 2 x J via Brisbane to Singapore. When she almost finalised the booking only the Sydney-Brisbane leg was J and the Brisbane-Singapore leg was Y even though they where charging J all the way.......Ended up booking Y+ all the way.
