I've seen certain threads on this but not really been able to figure out seat select through the website but an NZ agent just ran me through it so thought I'd share. Screen shots would be good but I'm not that fancy and don't know how to scrub out my details.

But on the home page of Air NZ left box where you book your flights, the next tab over from "book a flight" is "find a booking" and you put in the NZ PNR (which you've called up VA to get) and your last name then it takes you through the process!

Only gives Pink preferred seating, exit row and some white seats down the back, I'm guessing more open up at T-something before departure? but I prefer the seat + bag type option and spend the $20 on the seat which is generally down the back:)

Avoids any service fee if you call NZ to select a seat. Not sure how much that is, maybe $35?

You're all probably rolling your eyes and are like "that's old news" but..... for me its new:p I should really click around a bit more.

Thanks for the information - very useful.

I guess this relates to a VA flight number on NZ metal.

Exactly. Pity there's not a few more seats available but they all appear "blacked out"/unavailable for an October booking. None of the FF seating shows up.

I've had varying results with this, sometimes I'll get the NZ PNR and be able to pull up the flight, but then you can't do anything and it will say you need to call. Same with OLCI - even with the NZ PNR it won't allow it. Not sure the differing results. NZ have always been very good to me even without getting a seat until at the airport.
