I'm trying to sort out a booking for a flight to China in June, but the Qantas website is testing me.

Basically - I need my routing to be ROK-BNE-SYD-PVG-XIY-PVG-SYD-BNE-ROK. This in itself isn't too hard, however the website doesn't want to agree with me. I want to go from ROK-SYD on day one, then SYD-PVG the next morning, then PVG-XIY 5 days later, then XIY-SYD another 5 days later, then SYD-ROK a day or two later.

Unfortuanatley, XIY doesn't appear in the multi-stop booking list (but oddly it does on the front page). Is there anyway to avoid having to do this over the phone with the telephone booking fee.

Also, can anyone confirm is "flexisaver" is counted as economy and not discount economy for ff points upgrade purposes? Should the award booking engine show that an award business seat is available, if I book the paid tickets then put in the upgrade request, will it confirm right away or do I have to wait until the day before departure to know?

Thanks a lot

If the location cannot be selected on the QF site, then you will need to either use another site or to phone Qantas

It is unlikely that the flexisaver will be in booking class Y , so will probably be discount economy. Regardless , whether discount or full, upgrades for international flights are only granted within 24 hours of departure; if you wish to confirm now, then you will need to book an award flight

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

For any domestic segment, Flexi-saver is considered full economy for SC and upgrade purposes.

For international flights, it's very hard to get the only available "full economy" class Y to even come up on qantas.com ...

Is the issue that QF does not operate PVG-KIY? I thought for multi-stop bookings individual sectors need to be operated by QF or have a QF codeshare.

Maybe you get get them to waive the fee since Xi'an does not appear on the multi-booking tool.

I don't understand why Qantas doesn't have all the ports served by One World on its booking list. This year I tried to book an itinerary passing through Amman - the home port for one of the One World partners, Royal Jordanian, but it wasn't there.

Yes seems I might have to do it over the phone (I'll push for the no fee).

Interestingly, Xi'an and Chengdu aren't listed however both of them have QF codeshare flights with China Eastern and you are able to book them from the website as a normal return booking, just not the multistop (or even a SYD-PVG-(stop)-XIY-PVG-SYD. Similar for a few other places (eg: MEX).

Supersaver is OK for upgrades (click on the hyperlink for fare conditions during the booking):

"Flight Upgrade Awards are eligible on this fare except if this is a Qantas Any Seat Award."

Some of the sale fares, especially ex SIN are often OK for upgrades at times.

Yes, but the upgrade would be charged at the discount economy upgrade rate, not the full economy rate.
