Has anyone tried to use UK or European-based car hire companies to book car hires in USA, such as EconomyCarRentals, RentalCars.com, expedia.co.uk, Carrental8? They seems to have pricing with most of the insurance included, with better pricing than booking directly on major US car companies (without the insurance add ons which can be very expensive).

I looked at EconomyCarRentals and they have Zero deductible pricing as per below, and their prices are cheaper than booking at US major car companies direct. I just booked one via the website and it is using Alamo.

Am I missing anything, or everyone is using it already?

This is something that I've done previously.

I've used USCarHire.com (UK-based, affiliated with some Orlando accommodation businesses) on multiple occasions and been generally happy. They tend to have Alamo/National and sometimes Thrifty/Dollar or similar. You choose the country of your driver licence and can choose to pay in USD/GBP/EUR. It's usually prepaid but mostly refundable up until quite close.

Sometimes you can get a good deal direct from Alamo on their own website. They're good at pricing-in the necessary insurance etc if you indicate your licence is not from the US when entering search criteria. And generally my experience with Alamo/National is the best of all companies I've used in the US and you can choose your own car from the relevant category at most major locations.

I ALWAYS book with one of the (many) European consolidators. Mainly Rentalcars.com and EconomyCarRentals...think I have also used HolidayCars...
