Does anyone know a way of booking VA online (or offline?), for travel originating in coughet?

Maybe a question for crazydave if there are plans to allow this on the VA website, or through Velocity? I imagine there could be legal hurdles to doing so, not to mention credit card fraud considerations.

(bit like trying to buy a ticket ex-DPS for the Skywest services between Bali and Port Hedland ... impossible!!, but that's more like a charter than RPT that the vA services are)

Maybe give their call centre a buzz. Someone there has got to be able to do it.

Thanks for the (entirely obvious, but I didn't think of it!) suggestion. DId this last night and no-can-do, can't purchase flights originating in HKT over the phone either.

Huh. How very strange. I wonder if some regulation prevents them from selling them yet?

It is a regulatory issue (Thai authorities) which we hope to have resolved soon.

From V Australia

Friday 13 November 2009: V Australia, Virgin Blue Airlines Group’s boutique three class long haul airline has officially opened its doors for business in Thailand, with flights from THB 8,400 one way in International Economy Class and THB 34,999 one-way in International Business Class.
It comes hot on the heels of the launch this weekend of sister airline Pacific Blue’s brand new weekly flights from coughet to Perth, which take off Saturday.
V Australia fares go on sale at 9am today via V Australia’s Thailand General Sales Agency “LTU Asia” for
V Australia’s launch route of coughet – Brisbane, with flights commencing 29 November 2010. Direct flights from coughet to Melbourne will also go on sale, with the second route launching from 4 December 2009.
V Australia unveiled plans to commence services between Thailand and Australia in August this year, together with a pledge to bring fresh competition, super sale fares and a high quality, friendly service style to the people of Thailand.
To celebrate, V Australia is offering special fares in each of its three cabins, as follows:
To Brisbane and Melbourne - International Economy Class one-way - THB 8,400*
To Brisbane and Melbourne - International Premium Economy Class one-way - THB 18,999*

To Brisbane and Melbourne - International Economy Class one-way - THB 8,400*
That seems fairly cheap for a one way flight in economy from coughet. Converted that works out to be $270:)

How do you go about booking this ? You cannot choose HKT as an origin on the V-Australia website nor can I find any contact details for "LTU Asia" and the V-Aust call centre don't know the contact details either and just said to keep an eye on the website.

I don't understand how you can make a press-release saying flights go on sale at 9am then 4 days later have no idea how to book them !

Ok here's where I ended up via google ... first to the website www.ltu-asia.com which is a page with two links - one for Air Berlin and the other for "Go Vacation" which I cant access, blocked by our network as a "malicious web site".

However cached content on google shows the contact details as:
Go Vacation Thailand

Bangkok 10500, Thailand.

No sure if this is the LTU Asia, but seems close.

I think ill wait for an official announcement from V-Australia on how to take advantage of the deal as per the advice of the call centre. Just seems too dodgy digging up a companys details like that !

FWIW, I did contacted the above email address this afternoon, and got the following reply from someone, with an @ltu-asia.com email address:

Dear Mr. dajop,

Thank you very much for your interested in VAustralia and choosing our airlines for your flight to Melbourne.

Presently, we have a promotional rate, starting from 8,400 Baht one way for Economy class and 34,999 Baht one way for Business Class. Please note that at the present we fly to Melbourne on every Friday, leaving coughet at 18.50hrs. Please advice your travelling date and passenger name.

Please note that all fares are subject to availability, may vary until ticketed.

Yours faithfully,

Very tempted to try them out for $1140 AUD 1 way in J class....

I don't often travel internationally and am very new to these forums, but I am skeptical booking a flight like that over email where the address was dug up via googel cache !

What are your thoughts dajop ? Does it not seem dodgy to you ? Would you be willing to provide your credit card information that way, and even feel secure that you actually have a flight to catch once the day comes ?

I might shoot them an email and see what they say anyway.

$270 for HKT direct to MEL is too good to pass up.

OK, I received a similar email back with a little more information

Unfortunately the days they fly to/from HKT are no good for me :(

I tried BRI>HKT return, but was $393 one way.
Between 25-30 Dec Tiger and AirAsia have some cheap seats south.
Seems the airlines are gourging on December - bigtime prices > 4* usual.
Good reason not to play, but simply say no to fleecing.

Anyone know if you can book this now?

you cannot from V-Aus website and their prices for Aug are like $400 more
than Air Asia

as we have more friends wanting to come over going there Air Asia is no
problems, coming back we would like to all be on one flight.

any ideas?

Hi, just registered because think I can give you all a valuable tip:

Although VA flights ex international destinations such as HKT cannot be booked from the VA homepage, you can easily book them on DJs homepage. HKT can be seleted as origin (listed under 'Thailand'), booking engine then redirects you to VA booking system and voila - flights and prices are shown and can be booked easily. No idea why it is not possible thru VAs homepage directly, you need this little detour.

Just booked a few weeks ago, because we needed a one-way FRA-MEL and the best option was via HKT (FRA-HKT on DE for 550 AUD and HKT-MEL on VA for 333 AUD, cheapest option on the required dates).

May have something to do with VA being full-service direct, and D7 being a full LCC with a non-assured connection in KUL.

This is not working for me....after I enter the booking details the DJ site just redirects me to the front page of the VA site..

Anyone else get this to work?
