Just read on another forum that both XFC and XFD have both been damaged during maintenance.

God I hope this isn't so - I'm supposed to be flying on one in J on monday.

Also wouldn't be good news for Virgin (or the contractor).

:(

Just guessing, but this sounds like a miss-founded guess that turned into a rumor. They were never planned to enter service until later this month I thought?

The Plat helpdesk confirmed I was on the new A330 and the seatmap is different - 6 across instead of 7.

<Tongue in cheek> Fortunately this maintenance was being conducted by Australian engineers in Australia! </Tongue in cheek>

Another member on here referred to that other website as the "x-files for aviation". A great descriptor. The most recent posts on that forum are that the DJ A330 needs a new wing as a result of ground damage, which is concerning, but hopefully it falls closer to the x-files than reality.

Hope you have an amazing trip, and that you realise you are now obliged to write a in-depth trip report along with HD photographs of everything from the stitching in the italian leather seats to the champagne bottle and pre-flight nibbles.

Apparently it tried to make friends with a JQ A330. Probably best to let the other forum do the talking, I don't want to give the impression that I actually have any first (or second, or third!) hand knowledge about the incident:
John holland incident? - PPRuNe Forums

The second last post at 1208 today says VA A330 damage possibly minor.

Note that PPRuNe is exactly as its name says a 'rumour network' :!:

Re: Virgin A380 clips jetstar plane

Any pictures floating around?

Would be interesting to see the damage.

Does any one know which JQ a/c was involved?

T_T_R you never know- news.com.au may post the AF 380 incident claiming it to be the DJ/VA 380 incident!

Re: Virgin A380 clips jetstar plane

Did I miss Virgins a380 delivery?

Yes you did, and that was half the problem, the tug driver thought he only had an A330 attached, he got one hell of a surprise when he turned around saw it was actually an A380. It that extra wingspan you know...

Thanks Markis.
