Bow Ties are the substance of life.

I'm aggrieved and nonchalant at the same time without one. I honestly feel that life without bow ties would be futile. I trust my bow ties.

If you're wondering wtf then I'm just having a laugh. I joined FT in December and have only now found this site. I'll try and contribute and help when I can.

Welcome to AFF.now i will be wearing a bow tie in 3 weeks time-the first occasion for many a year.I will post a photo just for you.:lol:;)

Welcome to AFF BowTieGuy!

I believe I have never worn a bow tie in my life. Not that I can remember anyway.

Welcome & I believe Mr James Strong would agree with you.

I've met JS socially twice and it was weird but we got on famously given our shared love (of BTs). Cravats are useful too (something to consider JohnK), given it is highly unlikely you'll ever spill food or drink on them no matter the turbulance, as opposed to the more "conventional" ties mere mortals usually wear ;) .

;)As I am taking a selection of BTs on my next trip if mrs.dr.ron is successful in having us upgraded to F on QF1 I may very well wear one on the flight.

Hopefully said BT does not match your golfing shorts!

;)

Do you wear proper bow ties.. or those awful pre-tied monstrosities?

Mainly kidding there... but the only bow tie I ever wore was a plain black hand tied one... as part of the "Mess Undress" uniform Naval officers wear to evening functions...

I dislike conventional ties (I probably average the once-a-year- with them that straitman mentions).....

.... and really cannot see myself ever again wearing a bow tie.. except perhaps revisiting the "plain, black, hand tied" type with a Tux one day....;))

Your mileage may (and clearly does) vary!

I used to wear a cravat as part of my school uniform... can't imagine that with today's schools.

Hey! That's what the proper one was like... when I tied it anyway!:shock:
