BPay doesn't get points?

Like many AFFers I'm looking around for alternatives to the Woolworths Money card now the point awards have gone down the toilet.

I found a potential card (VISA Platinum) and have applied for it but looking at the 'ineligible transactions' in the detailed T&Cs I see 'BPay transactions' listed.

I haven't come across this before and every card I've had, including Woolworths Money, gives points for BPay. Has anyone else seen this?

It might be like 'business transactions'. Theoretically they're ineligible but in practice never are.

I can probably steer most of what I pay on BPay ($000s a month) to pay-by-phone or email but all the same this would be annoying and inconvenient.

BPAY transactions have been ineligible for points earning in the Commonwealth Awards program for the last couple of years at least. I can't speak to other programs.

Annoying, yes, but relatively easy to find alternative strategies for payment (website etc) in each case that do earn points. Consequently, I've not used BPAY at all since the above changes were made.

I didn't know about the CBA - and I have a CBA card. I rarely use it due to the sub-standard points earn.

Thanks for the tip - I'll do as you do if the card is approved.

I wonder why BPay is excluded?

I have the HSBC Visa Platinum and it definitely doesn't get points on Bpay as have tried.

However the Macquarie Visa Platinum does get points through Bpay as have earnt quite a few.

Dale.

Similarly Westpac group (including St George) cards don't pay points for BPay. Looks like ANZ and NAB issued cards still do. These are all based on the Visa earn however, so NAB earn at 0.5 ppd bit of a waste but better than nothing. ANZ if you have the QFF Black, is at 0.75 ppd so more acceptable.

I tend to pay directly on biller sites rather than BPay to ensure I'm not having the argument about BPay transactions.

If you've managed to use your diners MC to sign up for citi internet banking - sounds like they've blocked new sign ups. From experience BPay from the DC works but you don't get any points. BPay from the MC does earn points.

So that Diners World MCC or whatever it's called will earn points. Great, thanks!

Shouldn't as already significantly lower point earn than the "old" signature but you never know. Maybe down to 1 DC/$1 from 1.25 putting it in line with bank issued MC. Significantly, without the MC, doubt many of us would get opportunity to put major spend through DC card alone.
Since they blocked Citi internet banking for new sign ups using the Diners MC hopefully they'll leave points for BPay untouched.

Can someone list what cards earn points from Bpay after ANZ Black dissappears on 27/2/16 and Citi Prestige/Signature dissappears on 18/3/16?

Billy
I sure hope you are right
Do others concur?
Perhaps a call to ANZ is needed??

I doubt you'll get a response from ANZ that can be trusted. I'll do a tester in early March and report back.

I reckon VirginMoney cards will still earn points for BPay..

I have a ANZ Black and happy to do the BPay test as well if required.

Can someone confirm that new DC MasterCard uses aren't allowed to register for citi banking interface therefore no BPay option? - Does this mean that you can't manage the DC MasterCard online anymore?

Is the BPay option available via the DC internet banking interface for AU?

I've registered about a year ago and it's working. I haven't done a BPay on it in ages so don't know if still pays points.
There are reports on the DC threads that it's no longer available so you can't register for online banking with Citi using your MC.
