The Federal Government will spend $20 million on a brand campaign in a bid to boost Australia's international image.
The search for a new brand for Australia will be designed to sell the country's best assets in tourism, trade and investment through a single slogan, similar to New Zealand's "100 per cent pure" campaign.
The move comes in the wake of the failed "Where the bloody hell are you?" tourism campaign which Prime Minister Kevin Rudd described as a "rolled gold disaster".

First of all I'm wondering if we can save them the $20M consultancy, going to post the question on here for free and then pocket the margin! but seriously

How hard can it be?

Get everyone to write to our overseas friends, invite them to stay with us for one week in the next year. When they come they will probably also spend 2-3 weeks travelling around as well.

Split the $20M + the advertising program with all the people whom get someone to come from overseas.

There was already something similar to this concept that was going to happen, wasn't there? Not sure if it ever got off the ground... IIRC it had something like a committment of pumping at least $5,000 into the economy etc.

They need to move out of the stone age with their marketing. Think of how successful the "Worlds Best Job" campaign was. Nothing better than free advertising.

How about an Amazing Race style race around Australia with $1M as the prize? Surely that would get broadcast around the world. They might even make some money out of it.

Perhaps $1M treasure hidden somewhere in Australia. Each week new clues are given and the first to find it keeps the cash. Surely that would draw some people here. Follow the action around with a film crew and bingo, you also have a travel show that will be broadcast around the world.

Maybe a $1M “Worlds best holiday”. Stays in all the top hotels, J class flights everywhere inside AU, eating in the best restaurants, seeing all our natural wonders. Again, follow the winners around with a film crew.

There you go, cost is $1M so that will be $19M in consulting fees please.

My branding is easy and i dont need telling - Brand search: Who the bloody hell are we? - I know who I am...

Tag for watches, Mont Blanc for Pens, wallets and computer bags, RMW for boots and shoes, Ray Ban for glasses, Aramis for smelling nice, wild turkey rare breed for feeling nice and penfolds for pretending I'm nice...

What more branding do I need?

Mr!

 :!:
