Now that's what I call traveling in style :D

It's apparently First class in the upper deck of a 747. Ideal venue for an AFF meet  I can envisage Bossreggie organising a discreet whip-round for a generous tip for the cabin crew mid-flight :p

Who do you think arranged the Campari!!

I travelled this QF cabin on an FOC ticket around 1971 as an UM. Back in the day when roast meat was carved in the aisle and presented to the plate. I was too young to wear flared jeans though. I do remember the FA offering me a thimble full of white wine at the stand up bar on the upper deck and telling me not to tell my parents. Law suit nowadays!

Here's something you probably might not have considered:

There weren't any full flat seats in the old days :) To think that now it's an absolute imperative for any F in the world (and very much touted for J).

No one cared about flat beds back then, it was all about looking cool upstairs. God forbid sleeping.

Who needs to sleep when you fly during the day and have an overnight stop at a few destinations along the way!

I know I’d spend all my money (not a lot) to fly like in the old days and live it up in crummy seats, drinking all the way :)

yeah - all very nice, except seating in the F cabin was very cramped - we needed lounges to stretch out! (And there weren't enough seats in the lounges for all F class pax anyway).

It certainly wasn't conducive to sleep back then, and flight sectors were short, averaging around 7-8 hours. All fun to use the lounge for the first sector, but after that you just wanted to sleep!

All very well and good, but remember the average weekly earnings to fly then versus now.

The riff raff fly these days.........oh to dream of another time!

Sorry to spoil the party but this setting honestly doesn't appeal to me at all. Far too much mingling with the other passengers by the looks of it, fine for a Friday night at the pub but on a long-haul flight? Maybe if you're travelling on vacation but especially for business, what a nightmare!

Nah- give me a nice flat seat on an A380 in J or better even in F any day instead of what I see here!

Yeah I'm undecided. With a few good mates it would be a great way to kill time during a flight, but that said I think I prefer the current situation where chairs turn into beds and you have AVOD which allows you to zone out.

Just sitting around in a lounge, well sitting around in a lounge on the ground can get boring after a while (there are only so many G&T's one can knock back), I'd imagine it would get just as tedious once you're in the air as well.

Of course the FA's job may have also included introducing pax as an ice breaker. (I'll ask my grandfather, he did a lot of F flying back in the day)
