As mentioned in the previous Brisbane drinks thread there is an AFL night in Brisbane on Saturday, 11 July 2009 ~7:10pm.

Brisbane Lions vs Geelong Cats!

The venue is the Gabba and if anyone is interested we can have dinner/drinks before the game at either Norman Hotel, Breakfast Creek Hotel or the Mill Hotel Bar & Restaurant.

General admission is $24.30 with a $4.95 booking fee but from what I can see the tickets do not go on sale until 9:00am, 8 July 2009. Anyone know if we can get general admission tickets earlier?

I had to wait for the thread to resurface - but will say intersted for the moment.

I can't edit my above post now, but as an update, I can't come, as I get back from NZ on the 18th. A week later. Sorry!

Not a lot of interest show so far in the Brisbane AFL night. :-|

If 11 July does not suit most people we can change the date to 25 July at the Gabba same time Brisbane Lions vs North Melbourne Kangaroos. Perhaps the Brisbane Lions would have a much better chance in that game....

I am not interested in footy, but I am in BNE (OOLish) 22-26JUN.
Happy to celebrate a win or commiserate a loss.

Afraid I'm most unlikely at this stage (and being a Cats man I was genuinely keen). Sometimes the planets just don't align...

I am still wanting to go to the AFL on 11 July 2009.

The regular tickets don't go on sale until 30 June.

The Gold Class tickets are available now for $100 but there are cheaper ones than that.

Let us know if you are still interested in celebrating anyway when you are in town.

Leave it as the original date then.

Cheap seats sounds good....

School holiday period is not an easy time to get cheap airfares. I am still sweating on another sale for end July/August. I thought the long weekend would have been a perfect time for a sale but obviously QF is pre-occupied with other events....

Hmmm, we're all waiting for the same thing! I do doubt it will happen on that w/end (but never say never)...

Lindsay Wilson have you purchased the tickets yet? Regular tickets go on sale tomorrow.

Thank You Qantas!!

A big heartfelt thank you to QF for keeping the fares high enough to save me from the utter misery of attending this game! :p

Did anyone else end up going?

No. It is a shame there wasn't enough interest shown to make it good night out. I was going to go on my own but decided to stay in my apartment instead.

It was a very good game made even better by watching Geelong lose 2 in a row....
