The link below shows photos of before and after. The photo of the Rocklea Markets shows some of the Brisbane Golf Course - hole 12 Par 5 mainly where the AFF GOld Tournament was played.

You can move the black line on each map to see the before and after photos.

ABC News - Brisbane floods: before and after

PhotoMaps by NearMap has some high res aerial mapping now up, I think a lot of the news outlets are using the images, its like a more up to date version of Earth.

Some of those photos are almost unbelievable.

I am still trying to come to grips of the Toowong photo. A lot of the area (around the oval and the Regatta) where I usually go for a walk at lunchtime is underwater.

I hated how the news services referred to the aerial mapping as photos from a satellite in space, when I felt sure they would have known where they came from.

I wish the nearmap planes (someone told me they used cessnas, but they could have been pulling my leg) had gone a bit further up river. It's as though the flooding stopped part way up The Teneriffe reach of the river; doesn't show any of the Newstead, Breakfast Creek, Albion & Windsor flooding. I was curious to also see those areas, even if they weren't as badly hit this time as many of them were in May 09.

They covered the whole area, have a look at the ICB near breakie creek, would you like a snorkel with your xx_X off the wood. The photos in the area are on Friday, I can see my car parked at work in Albion :p. Given the airspace is very busy around there it may have been the earliest they could get the 172 across the northern reaches.

NearMap only operates Cessna C210s at around 2000m-3500m.

They have maps up for 13 Jan and 14 Jan. 14 Jan goes all the way out to the mouth of the river.

I saw the newer maps covered a much larger area… I was trying to see if Bundy Bear had been saved a flood, and it looks like he has.

Thank you, have just looked at my area on the 14th; those photos mustn't have been uploaded when I last looked, as I could only see our area in Sept 2010.
The 13th would have had water still in the area, but it had receeded by the 14th. It looks like the photos were taken before 10am, as our car isn't in the street, nor is the pile of rubbish on the footpath.

Glad we didn't try to use the ICB on the 14th! Goodness, what a lot of water in there!

I was particularly moved by that image of Rockhamton airport with the aircraft making a low pass over the water. Depressing stuff. :(

Yeah, I was aware of that. I was initially concerned it might be out of operation for weeks beyond now, but it seems not much damage was done. :)
