Hi

Myself and partner flying out of Brisbane to auckland on emirates flight (departing at 8am), under qantas booking. Booked business class. Could someone please advise lounge opening times and which would be the best lounge to visit before our flight? Arrive in brisbane late the night earlier from perth or darwin, are you able to check bags in earlier than the 3 hour check time? I am flying on qantas from darwin so my bag be sent straight through to aukland however my partner is flying on a VA flight so bag wont be sent onwards. Dont want the hassle of leaving airport with checked bags or if want to stay in airport overnight would want to wait airside as we would have lounge access. Alternativley is there baggage store at brisbane international?

Thanks in advance

EK Lounge in BNE is one of the best in the world. Fabulous lounge. Don't even bother with the underwhelming QF lounge. The EK lounge should be open a few hours before flight. Check with EK.

Presumably you are flying DRW-BNE separately.

Since that is domestic and the international flight is the next day, it is likely you will not be able to check bags in for the AKL flight until the next morning.

Access to the airside departures area of the international terminal will not be available until around 5am, so you'd need to either get a Hotel for a few hours. I'm not sure the domestic terminal stays open overnight.

Who can use EK lounge? Yes the QF is like an empty doctors lounge.

I visited the BNE QF international lounge the other day. Around 4pm the place was almost empty and the only food on offer was a few salads and a selection of cheese & crackers etc. Certainly nothing like the SYD lounge. Plenty of alcohol though.

Actually heard someone last week with access to the J lounge comment to the lounge angels that it felt like a dentist surgery waiting room and went through to the QP instead of turning left at the sliding door.

I arrived at the EK lounge just after 5:30am a few weeks ago and there were already some people there. Boarding directly from the lounge is great too.

Thanks alot! Seems like the emirates lounge is the way to go. Shame ill have to get a hotel though. I would have thought my bag would be sent from darwin and i wouldnt see again until i get to NZ, seemed to work that way back from Germany, even with a 14hr stop in Singapore.

Changi is "different" - they can even allow check-in 48 hours beforehand.

The EK Lounge in BNE opens 3 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the EK flights and closes after flight departs. The QF Lounge opens at 0500 daily and closes either 2330 0015 depending on the day of the week. Neither lounge is open all night.

If your flight DRW or PER to BNE is in the same pnr as BNE/AKL then the system would automatically check the bags to AKL provided the system parameters allow it.

If you have separate pnrs by all means ask at QF check in at PER or DRW if they can add the on carriage flight in however as above it would still be subject to the system parameters in place for that port.

EK checkin would be open the previous evening for the EK435 flight BNE/DXB which departs at 2045 so you could ask them if they could check you in for the day day but I wouldn't be too hopeful.

You won't be able to wait airside at BNE Intl as AU Customs would not be willing to process you for a flight the next day and even if they were your bags would have to either be through check to AKL or accepted by EK in BNE.

IMHO you'll need to collect your bags at BNE Domestic then take them on the Tbus to the international terminal where you can hire a locker (level 1 carpark) and put them in there overnight.

Maybe I should ask next time I am at the lounge, but I have always been of the understanding the EK lounge is open for people transiting off EK432 onto EK434

Forgot about that flight however even if the lounge is open the two main hurdles the OP are having to checkin luggage & waiting for AU Customs to 'open' the flight for processing pax on EK435.

Transit pax ex EK432 are obviously exempt from this process.
