Just returned from a short trip to Gold Coast and Brisbane, and thought it was worth sharing about the Brisbane Marriott where I stayed for 2 nights with the wife and 2 kids. The facilities are good but not awesome. The location is good for business travellers. But the real kicker is the service. I can honestly say that its the best service ive had in an Aussie hotel. It wasnt just a couple of the staff either...it's was just about every staff member we interacted with was friendly and helpful.

When they opened they took a lot of the good staff from Quay West (it was a Mirvac build), sounds like they have retained them.

When the porter brought up our bags, he came armed with brochures for local eating options (as the front desk had told him that we asked about places to eat) and he then spent 5 minutes giving us all the info we needed to find and book restaurants in Brisbane...plus how to get everywhere. Considering it was our first time in Brisbane it was greatly appreciated. The front desk must have passed on info to the concierge about a passing comment that I made. As a result we ended up eating dinner back in the hotel and we were totally happy with the result. They even had activity packs for our 2 kids plus good kids meal choices.
